FBI Raids Solyndra Offices
Last week, Solyndra halted operations and declared bankruptcy. The following day, House Republicans declared their intention to investigate the Obama administration's role in securing a $535 million loan for the flailing solar company.
And today, the FBI is has raided the offices of Solyndra, placing everything under seal, and conducting interviews with the skeleton crew that was responsible for wrapping up the loose ends.
Investigators have not articulated what exactly it is that they're looking for. But as the Daily Caller reports, White House visitor logs indicate that the story is only about to get more interesting.
According to White House visitor logs, between March 12, 2009, and April 14, 2011, Solyndra officials and investors made no fewer than 20 trips to the West Wing. In the week before the administration awarded Solyndra with the first-ever alternative energy loan guarantee on March 20, four separate visits were logged.
George Kaiser, who has in the past been labeled a major Solyndra investor as well as a Obama donor, made three visits to the White House on March 12, 2009, and one on March 13. Kaiser has denied any direct involvement in the Solyndra deal and through a statement from his foundation said he “did not participate in any discussions with the U.S. government regarding the loan.”
But the countless meetings at the White House seem hardly coincidental. Kaiser, in fact, is responsible for 16 of the 20 meetings that showed up on the White House logs.

Curiouser and curiouser. Into the looking glass we go.
Talk about buyer's remorse !

Re: FBI Raids Solyndra Offices
I'm sure that whatever happened between Obama and Solyndar will remain quietly unreported by any major news outlets. After all it's not like a company that makes solar panels could be corrupt and in bed with the president. Only big oil companies or defense contractors are like that.

Will an active FBI investigation with everything sealed up prevent Congress from actively investigating the matter?
Also, the story notes that the FBI served the warrant on behalf of the Dept. of Energy. If Ed. has it's own SWAT team why doesn't Energy?

That would be a great way to keep inconvenient information from getting out to voters, eh?
There seem to be several Obama administration scandals breaking over the last several months. A curious news media would be valuable right about now.

So the admin would bring the FBI into a coverup ? Jumpin jehosaphat ! It'stime like this that make one long for J Edgar Hoover, who operated independently of the WH.

I'm less certain today than I have ever been that there exists any independence from the WH within the government in general or the executive branch in particular. DoD is probably the only place in government (and that only outside of the upper levels) that isn't stuffed to the gills with liberals. When an adherent to the cult of Obama receives a request to do something on behalf of the cause and for the good of "The One" how likely is he to refuse? I know my cynicism is showing again, but I trust this administration less than I'd trust Clinton with my daughter.

Re: FBI Raids Solyndra Offices
One wonders if the reason the the President, his staff and perhaps his whole party have such an evident low opinion of business, is the nature of the businesses they know. Apparently they assume that all business success is due to sweetheart deals and backroom string-pulling.
There are business people who don't hang around the power-centers of Washington with their hands out, but how would a fella like Barack Obama ever meet them?

I recommend this series of articles about Holder's hiring practices. We can't change this admin quick enough and rooting out the work that will be done by this group will take years.

Scary stuff. Are these people career now or can they be replaced at will when BHO is out?

Re: FBI Raids Solyndra Offices
The FBI has been known to "lose" evidence, before, especially under highly politicized DOJs. Remember how they "lost" all of the video tapes they removed from the cameras on the Murragh building, across the street from the explosion, and the dash cam of the state trooper's car? I've run across extensive write-ups on that subject, but a quick search found this inadequate reference to an AP piece that AP has since memory-holed. The basic story was that witnesses observed the removal of the videos by people wearing FBI windbreakers. The FBI has recently been hit with a FOIA request and says they don't exist.
Remember that Clinton got rid of all the U.S. attorneys when he took office (around ninety, as I recall), but that Bush kept Clinton's on for more than a year, then wanted to remove a few that were bad fits and got hammered for politicizing the DOJ?
I hate even the suggestion that we can't trust the FBI, but will watch this issue closely to see if the congress gets stonewalled on access. Where has this administration ever been cooperative with FOIAs or congressional investigations?

Holder is the pure embodiment of evil as I know it. I'd rather eat lunch with Stalin.

Re: FBI Raids Solyndra Offices
I found this bit particularly sleazy, from Bloomburg:
In February, Solyndra and its lenders reorganized the company’s debts, putting the U.S. loan behind $69.3 million owed to other lenders, including an affiliate of Solyndra’s biggest shareholder, Argonaut Ventures
and from Tulsa World this is significant because:
In an emailed statement to the Tulsa World, a representative of the George Kaiser Family Foundation said the organization made the investment through Argonaut.
Apparently being an donor to the President is a friends with benefits arrangement.

Re: FBI Raids Solyndra Offices
Yep. It is pretty apparent that this was a pre-emptive move by Obama's protectorate. We will never hear another word about the details of this or anything else about Solyndra- and anyone in Congress who asks will be given The Issa Treatment.
