Re: Europe's view of the U.S.
The only inaccuracy is that New York should extend southward to encompass Washington D.C. during Democratic administrations (and from the standpoint of the ABR's, Romney administrations too, I guess).

Re: Europe's view of the U.S.
I live in Kansas City, Missouri. Not Kansas. But apparently no one hears anything beyond the word Kansas. It happens all the time....I go to a concert and the first words out of the singer's mouth..."Happy to be here in Kansas." Sorry, buddy...KS is west about five miles. In six months when you get a tax bill from the state of MO and the city of Kansas City...you will be scratching your head and wondering why.
Don't they teach geography anymore in our schools?

In the words of my friend Kyle (a Texan), the map is not how Europe sees us, it is an accurate representation of America.

Didn't India and Israel slice off their crazy geographic extremist ends named Pakistan/Bangladesh and Gaza/West Bank? I hope they at least leave us a warm weather Pacific coastal port such as San Diego and/or possibly Seattle. Of course, that leaves us with Chicago not to mention places like Maryland and New Jersey.

Maureen, you anticipated my planned comment in its entirety. Amen.

Absolutely! Both of you.
Re: Europe's view of the U.S.
You know what? I always liked Texas Gov. Rick Perry's comment that, if push came to shove, Texas might just secede. But I see now that there's a much, much better option. Texas should just annexe 40 or 45 states.
No state income tax. A state legislature that meets only every second year. Welfare payments so modest that everybody knows immigrants enter the state to find jobs, not handouts. And football as a kind of religion.
Bliss.

Re: Europe's view of the U.S.
C'mon, Peter, you're just trying to get us to occupy California for you so you don't have to leave.
We didn't keep Mexico when we had them up against the wall; you think we'd take that sinking dreadnought of a state off your hands?
Perry isn't an idiot; it doesn't even take much of a salesman to get the rats off a sinking ship. But he didn't offer to take it off your hands, I noticed.
I think if we are going to annexing anyone it would be Alberta; the Texas of Canada, God bless their souls.
Re: Europe's view of the U.S.
I visit the comments section of some internet "humor" sites to keep abreast on the latest idiocies. Among the young commenters in other countries, their lack of knowledge about the US is matched only by their smugness and reflexive leftism. Americans are stupid, god-addled, warlike, greedy, and fat. Yet somehow we produce 98.7% of the culture that consumes their imaginations.
