The citizens of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, have voted and the result is:

Barack Obama: 5

Mitt Romney: 5

A tie. I can't imagine it any other way.

It's going to be a long day! Go out there and have some fun. Well, first get some sleep. Then have some fun.

Sorry Mollie, but:

1) I will not get any sleep.

2) I will not have any fun tomorrow.  Except, perhaps, tomorrow night if we win.

3) Either way, I will be relieved on Wednesday (hopefully)!

Well, I hope that over the next twenty-four hours, most Ricocheteers won't give into eeyorism and mope around the comment threads depressing everyone else.  I've already seen enough of that this evening.

Mollie Hemingway, Ed.: It's going to be a long day!

Long day? Try long month, unless Prof Rahe's predictions come to pass, which I secretly believe but am loathe to admit to such optimism, this will be a month of hanging computer terminals, recounts and lawyers.

Luckily, I have the day off on Tuesday.  But I have lectures to give early Wednesday morning, so no drinking tomorrow night, whether in celebration or sadness.

2008 it was 15-6 Obama in Dixville Notch. Although I wouldn't put too much stock into it either way.

Does that mean they lost a resident? Or did the 11th vote belong to a dispirited Obama supporter?

Am I reading that right?  A 52% drop off in participation?

Voter apathy is a terrible thing... for political junkies.

Oh, I'll probably get some sleep tonight, but not much. Not because of worry, actually, but because I've had so much trouble concentrating in the last few days that I'm way behind on a project -- that's due Wednesday.

So, tomorrow morning, I vote, and then spend the rest of the day completely immersed in non-political things. And on Wednesday, I will have two reasons to be relieved (I hope)!

I think they had some population loss over the last four years.

I look forward to tomorrow, because I'll be able to go back to my original avatar.
