Eat, Pray, Run
The Clintons have always had a gift for false modesty, but this strikes me as taking it to the next level. Here's Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speaking at a town hall event in India earlier today and disclaiming interest in the presidency in novel fashion:
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Monday she has no desire to make another run for the White House but hopes to see an American woman president in her lifetime.
...
As for herself, she says she is done with the political high wire and looks forward to life as a private citizen.
"I would like to come back to India and just wander around without the streets being closed," she said. "I just want to get back to taking some deep breaths, feeling that there are other ways I can continue to serve."
Can't you just see it now? The former First Lady of the United States, Junior Senator from the State of New York, U.S. Secretary of State -- the woman who was nearly the first female president -- walking the streets of Mumbai, haggling in the local bazaar, trying a new curry, and just finding herself -- all over again, but really for the first time -- far from the din of the madding crowd?
Because if there's anything we associate with Hillary Clinton, it's an aversion to attention.

Re: Eat, Pray, Run
I am sure Bill has enjoyed her time away. As far as Hilary goes, I cannot possibly imagine her going off on a spiritual journey without camera crews. You can't keep a good woman down though, well maybe in 3/4 of the world you can.
What she will not say now is that her aversion is to Obama and his cronies as well as his power brokers. Time away from those lunatics will rekindle her large ambitions and I am positive of that.

Or maybe she's just tired.

I've always despised Hillary. But in the end I dearly wish the Dimocrats had chosen her over Obama.

Re: Eat, Pray, Run
I'm not sure that's fully fair Troy. She's an ambitious woman, but that's to her credit in my book. I don't agree with her politics but her accomplishments are legitimate and I don't begrudge her position. Frankly she's the best man or woman in Obama's cabinet. As for her statement on its face value I can well understand in truth how she might like to wander the streets of Mumbai and I think she could do it with relative impunity. It may be a little puffery but pretty benign. There is so much to criticize, I'm sort of inclined to give Madame Secretary a pass on this one.

And she accomplished what without hanging on to Bill?

Trace, please, do the names Eric Holder, Tim Geithner, Hilda Solis, Lisa Jackson, and Ray LaHood mean nothing to you? Update: Kathleen Sibelius, too.

I have toilet paper with Obama's cabinet and czars on them. Today it was Kathleen Sebelius' turn.

What is she doing with her hair? For a woman in the news, and loving it, she needs a better hair stylist. Of course, if she were walking the streets of Mumbai without cameras following her, it wouldn't matter.

I was going seek a bit more specific information about this but then I remembered the CoC. I would note that with all the czars on it, that's got to be a double roll.

You mean without pushing Bill. I'm tired of that old saw frankly EJ. She's employed the assets she, err, acquired to best use -- just like everyone else. Bill's accomplishments were also hers. She's not my favorite person, and I don't agree with her concept of government, but I respect her. Compared to Sebelius or Solis, she's an intellectual giant.

I got it from the same place the Obama's buy their living constitution toilet paper. They have been actively buying amendments too, notably 1,2,4 and 10.

I'd recommend an Indian Ashram, as a private citizen - that will serve the US, best.

Trace - It's not an old saw. He had to win for her to get power. She was NOT a left wing Thatcher.

Re: Eat, Pray, Run
If she'd wander India looking like the picture, no one would recognize her anyway.

Re: Eat, Pray, Run
But EJ - I would contend that he had to be married to her in order to win. She plotted a course to power and she executed it effectively. To suggest that she is unqualified except for being someone's wife IS an old saw and I think is especially inapt in this case. Next you'll be telling me that Meghan McCain is unqualified to be a pundit!

Well. Don't forget it was Hillary who planned and coordinated the "Nuts and Sluts" defence, which accomplishment alone should qualify her as an inspiration to all women everywhere.
