This one left me speechless. I mean, I don't even know where to start. I suppose I'll just ask, rhetorically, what the authors could possibly imagine our problem with Iran is in the first place if they think a Turkey that behaves like Iran is just swell. Hey, just follow their logic along its natural trajectory: Wouldn't it be great if Turkey imposed Islamic law and lobbed a few Scuds at Tel Aviv? That would be a huge hit on the radical Sunni street. They'd forget they'd ever heard of Iran!

It sounds like a celebration of Erdogan's political opportunism and malfeasance.

It is all so complex, all these wheels within wheels, I am going to claim the cost of my subscription to the NYT on my health insurance as I am getting a migraine.

BTW Claire thanks for all the updates and insightful views from the Bosporus, I have enjoyed your commentary in the podcasts the last few weeks. Best of luck, and hope they continue.
