Lame!!!!!!

Recently I started a Ricochet conversation about the Department Of Energy's discovery that today's poor have X-boxes and air conditioning. California's got them beat. California is beyond poor and we have repulsive, politically motivated pet programs that mutilate and destroy human embryos for no demonstrable scientific value. Warning: reading this Daily Caller post will make your blood boil a bit. It's a classic government program that was sold as a good cause, degenerated into a business, and is now  officially a racket. We should have our credit rating down-graded. We're pathetic.

California moves closer and closer to the insane assylum every day. Every day the headlines bring some new outrage that strains credulity. Why even list them? They are by now too numerous to count.

I would leave in a New York minute if I could.

Good post, Joe, and dittos.

One thing, though, that program came into being via our proposition system, and it was a total racket from the start. It was sold to the pro-choice crowd as a thumb in the eye of pro-lifers; the ads for it were so transparent that they made me cringe. My Bay Area (San Francisco) friends were ecstatic about it, but it was never anything but the most disgraceful kind of corporate welfare.

So, now you found an iceberg close to home. It is a big country with a big gratuitous governing body. Just try sailing that sea with an explorers mind and not wrech on the voyage..

I remember when it passed.  It's good to know that our tax money has been well spent here in California.

Evil begets evil.  I'm from Jersey, so I know rackets.  I know corruption.  But to build this scam on the destruction of human embryos is especially repugnant.

 Woweee.

This is the best update on a wasteful program ever.

Who could have guessed it?

Throw in our, so far, $3.8 billion Train to Nowhere and you know pretty much everything you need to know about California politics:

The first leg of the project is slated for the middle of Central Valley -- not between major cities, or congested freeway corridors like San Francisco and San Jose or Orange County and Los Angeles. The Central Valley site is between Borden -- a point on the map where no one lives -- and Corcoran, a town where half the residents will never board a train because they're in prison.

But don't come to New York if you're looking to escape this kind of stupidity. We have our own stem cell program that has "partnered" with the CIRM. Our program was also started after President Bush limited federal funds for embryonic stem cell research. Two years ago, the program was bumming because they were unable to get any embronic stem cell researchers to apply for the wads of state cash they had lying around, so they were forced to accept researchers into non-embryonic stem cells. But, the state promised to work harder to identify those researchers willing to kill human individuals and use their body parts. Excelsior! (the motto for my fair state, used here tongue-in-cheek)
