His language skills will certainly come in handy while visiting the new manufacturing facilities of American companies.

The Chinese vote worked for Clinton, it will probably work for Huntsman.

I continue to discount Huntsman and look forward to discounting Huntsman at the ballot box should he last that long.

I have the utmost respect for Chinese-Americans but:  (1) they are very smart people who, for the most part, will not vote for someone because he can speak Mandarin and (2) this is the United States, not China, and even if the Chinese-American vote goes to Huntsman, he's going to have to find a few other groups (e.g., like non-Chinese Republicans and Independents) to get over the top.

It's not going to happen.

Didn't Al Gore have the same vote?

Diane Ellis, Ed.

Lest anyone take the title of this post seriously, allow me to clarify: it was a joke.  For some reason, the YouTube video made me laugh out loud.  It's the site of Huntsman being swallowed up by a mob of Asian tourists that I find funny.  But I can't exactly articulate why.

I would laugh, except I'm suspicious that he may've been bought and paid for by the Chinese.  Afterall, if Puppet Masters could get Obama elected, who knows what other surprises are in store.

I didn't think you were too serious. It is a funny clip and it is the only clip I've seen that the group of people were excited to see him.

Jon Huntsman would make a great ambassador to China.

I'm so relieved that Diane clarified that she was being facetious.  Amazingly, I still hear pundits talk about Huntsman as if he matters.

Huntsman is my litmus test for determining whether or not a pundit is completely out-of-touch with conservatives in this country: If anyone implies that he is a serious candidate, I know I can stop listening to them -- their wisdom is discredited.  (cough-mikemurphy-cough)

Any pundit who thinks conservatives are more likely to nominate Huntsman than, say, Thaddeus McCotter, needs to get out of the beltway.  Totally delusional.  And if they think he has a better shot at the nomination than Bachmann, they're just throwing a fingers-in-ears, foot-stomping, hissyfit.

This is not to say those pundits' policy preferences are necessarily wrong (although I think they usually are, if they like Huntsman), just that they have no idea what's going on in the country.  Their fellow citizens are like creatures from Mars to them.
