Doc Spy Program No More

Mollie wrote earlier this week about HHS' plan to spy on doctors to see whether they take Medicare and Medicaid patients. I mentioned it on NRO as well. Politico now reports that HHS has dropped the doc spy program. That didn't take very long. The follow up question that needs to be asked is not why they dropped it but how it got approved in the first place.

Heard yesterday that HHS said they'd dropped the program as the result of feedback for 'the public'. If so, could 'the public' get them to drop Obamacare?

It got approved in the first place because the HHS bureaucrats assumed no one would find out and report on it in the media. I wonder why the NY Times decided to publish the story.

Yes, but the only form of feedback that will be effective for that purpose will be the kind that happens on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November 2012.
