Dept of Cognitive Dissonance

As we mark the one-year anniversary of ObamaCare, Democrats absolutely love government control of our health care choices. Except when they don't.
In response to the recent North Dakota law on abortion -- a law that doesn't prohibit a single abortion but merely requires a waiting period and counseling -- Peggy Gibson, a Democratic State Rep. said that the law amounted to "government intrusion into people medical decisions." Help me out - can anyone else think of a law that fits that description?

That's what happens when you don't start with first principles. If you decide your policy views first and then search for ways to justify them, there are going to be contradictions.

When viewed through a cultural prism the liberal is the very model of constancy. Anything that reduces reliance on self or family, as traditionally understood, is to be supported. Anything reinforcing Patriarchal Amerika, or whatever the preferred formulation-of-the-week, must be opposed with every fiber of your being.

Wisconsin's Governor should've just explained to leftwing teachers that he wasn't killing any collective bargaining contracts (for pension and health insurance) that had gone full term. He was just killing little embryonic collective bargaining contracts, before any contract details could be ironed out. So, they can't be characterized as killed. They never existed in the first place. He could've cleared the situation right up by speaking their language.

Re: Dept of Cognitive Dissonance
I will never forget one of my liberal professors favorite quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines."
A quote from a literary figure excuses liberals from ever pursuing consistent reasoning or standards. Wouldn't want to be tormented by the hobgoblin of little minds.

The people are in the business of "winning the future," though I'm not exactly sure when the game will be played.
Nevertheless, they cannot be bothered with all this carping when they are just a smidgin inconsistent.
