The Democrats have a strategy for the up-coming midterms.

It's to run as Republicans.

From the Daily Caller:

Aware that their stock has taken the same tumble as home values, Congress’ most vulnerable Democrats are declaring their independence from their party’s agenda in Facebook profiles, television advertisements, news interviews and campaign websites leading up to the Nov. 2 election. That’s when Republicans hope to retake control of the House they lost four years ago...

The rebranders include Democratic Reps. Betsy Markey and John Salazar in Colorado, Zack Space in Ohio, Jason Altmire in Pennsylvania, Glenn Nye in Virginia and Joe Donnelly in Indiana. In Texas, Rep. Chet Edwards, once promoted as a potential running mate for Barack Obama, has become a vocal critic of his party’s policies.

And of course Nancy Pelosi is a problem for a lot of vulnerable House Democrats. Although some of them have a pretty interesting way of dealing with the problem:

In Alabama, Rep. Bobby Bright begged off a question about whether he would vote for Pelosi as speaker by pointing out that “she may get sick and die.”

That's what's known, in politics, as making lemonade out of lemons.

Cross posted from the logo thread:

Do you know what strikes me about the Dems new logo? It is decidedly a non-American look. The old donkey, like the GOP elephant, had a touch of the flag in in it. This could be a foreign party or it could be selling donuts.

To make my point, please see the evolution here.

Please don't let Pelosi die. Then we'd have to say nice things about her, like Democrats wishing they could have reasonable Republicans such as, uh, Reagan and WFB. Much better that she's utterly defeated and rejected and has to pretend to be cheerful while handing over the gavel in a big ceremony. Why? Cause I'm a cruel and horrid person, that's why.

Maybe Salazar could form the Slytherin party, which, while also not popular, at least has a competent logo artiste. It's sort of strange, come to think of it, that the Logo hasn't chimed in on the logo.

Here's and ad for Democrat Harry Mitchell, a congressman trying to get re-elected in Arizona: http://minx.cc/?post=305835

The ad is peppered with "I'm a Republican" testimonials and Mitchell never appears in the ad. It opens with with a man who is vaguely Mitchell-like stating, "I'm a Republican". And while they eventual put a name to the person, it's sunk in that this is a Rebublican ad and it's for Mitchell. Very well crafted but intellectually dishonest.

We will be seeing more of these as the days count down.

Now there's an impersonal, inexorable, historical process I can believe in.

Here's another ad, for Earl Pomeroy running in North Dakota. He starts off by saying how he voted FOR a George Bush initiative on pharmaceuticals. George Bush!

Well, that is actually how Rahm handled the recruiting in 2006 and 2008. Heath Shuler pretends to be a blue dog, and votes with Pelosi except when she has extra unneeded votes so he can permission to "stray".

There is a funny ad campaign in this.
