Is it just me, or does this Democratic attack ad make Newt Gingrich seem all the more endearing?  No need to spend any campaign funds promoting himself — the DNC's got Newt covered.

yes, it does look almost like a pro-Newt commercial. they are assuming enough people will find those statements "scary".

A preaching to the choir ad. Anyone who isn't already convinced of those things would not be swayed by it. I think it says something that the dems are running ads to shore up their base rather than win converts.

To be fair, isn't that what our side does too oftentimes?  Sometimes you'll have an optimistic, morning in America type ad that might be persuasive to an independent, but I expect we'll see a whole lot of Obama attack ads once the primaries have concluded.

Next they'll be accusing him of being a heterosexual.

The difference is our ads will say Obama is a socialist, a class warfare instigator, and trying to spend us into oblivion. The left will disagree with our characterization of him rather than cheer it.

This ad was posted in another thread today, and I couldn't believe how pro-Gingrich it was. I was concerned that it might be difficult to get the hardcore Tea Partiers to support Newt, and lo-and-behold, here's an ad that says "Hey, Tea Party! Here's your candidate!"

As I quipped to a friend of mine, "with enemies like this, who needs friends?"

This is how it struck me too.  It's like the DNC is goading Tea Partiers and the conservative base to nominate Gingrich.

If you were the DNC, wouldn't you rather run your candidate against Newt than Mitt? I would.

Good grief, no! All along, the Democrats and their media allies have been saying that the Obama administration really fears running against Romney or Huntsman. Huntsman in particular seems to have the press gushing, with all sorts of leftist talking heads explaining that he's the best candidate the GOP could possibly put forth, with Romney a close second.

I know all the variants on "Please don't throw me in the briar patch!" when I hear 'em.

No, I agree with those above who say this is pretty much the DNC solidifying their base, who thinks the Tea Party movement is scary and the wealthy are the enemies of humanity. This ad is aimed directly at the #Occupy crowd.

After all these years they're still misrepresenting his quote about the Medicare Finance commission.

If Newt is the nominee, I'll watch this ad whenever I need psyched up to work the phones.

Newt is no angel.  Do you think Mitt is an angel and they couldn't touch him?

"Three decades of Tea Party politics."  They say that like it's a bad thing.

If only it were true.

It's crazy how the two sides see the world so differently, that our virtues are their vices and vice versa.

There was a post in The Corner a few weeks back that simply re-posted a headline from ABC News -- something like: "Obama Warns Republicans Will Usher in Era of Self-reliance". If only.

It is helpful, though, to understand that these differences exist and that therefore it isn't good enough to simply state, again and again, what we believe to be manifestly good and right. We need to explain why it's good and right -- because it usually isn't so obvious as we assume.

It is so stupid, it immediately makes me wonder what they're up to. If Rove didn't hate Newt so much (or so I'm being led to be by at least some of the media I read & generally trust), I'd assume it was all part of a CFR plot.

Why do the Dems waste their money?  Ramesh Ponnuru and the rest of the National Review crowd are happy to trash Gingrich for free.

What a great ad!  It makes me want to donate to Newt's campaign!

In all seriousness, this shows the campaign the Democrats are going to run.  It's going to be full-on OWS, class warfare, pay your fair share all the way.

Easy to ridicule the Dem's ridicule. But Gingrich is exactly the kind of pol that the Teaparty despises. Stop this Gingrich love-fest.

I'm trending Ron Paul. Let's cut to the chase: Obama vs. Paul!

Hey guys.  This ad is clearly a "dog whistle" blowing into the media ether.  I think it would be constructive to decode it, in a distributed intelligence sort of way.

Key bullets from initial recollection:

-Style: Slick ad, clean graphics, bright colors, has an Errol Morris feel-esp the soundtrack.

1. Newt: The Original Tea Partier

2. He wants to sunset Medicare admits he doesn't have political capital to kill it

3. "Welcome to my 501c3 Tea Partay!"

4. 0% Cap Gains, lectures Romney, mentions that 200k is TOO LOW.  "We need people w/ REAL MONEY."

5. He's strident, hitting the lectern with his fist as exclamation points...

6. Newt: Tea Party'n since Nineteen Hundred & Eighty

So what are they trying to do with each byte?  Who is their audience?  Is this the fruits of their new oppo research on the surprise frontrunner?

Lets exploit this mysterious and alien communique...  ;)
