Democrat: Mothers Sure Are Lazy!
On CNN, Democratic strategist Hillary Rosen says of Mitt Romney: 'His wife has never worked a day in her life.'
You can watch it over at the Washington Free Beacon. Democrats sure know how to appeal to women voters, eh? By telling them that raising five boys to great success involves not a single day's work. Unbelievable.
I would put the raising of my children as one of the most important things I do, of course. It is far and away the most difficult. I don't believe Rosen is familiar with the work of raising children. It shows.

Re: Democrat: Mothers Sure Are Lazy!
I'm going to try to keep this from my lovely wife, a person who admirably raised five children. I fear she may get violent.
And Ann Romney has been fighting MS for nearly 15 years. Isn't that pretty much a full-time job? Attacking Mitt may be a smart thing for the Democrats to do, but taking on Mrs. Romney is asinine and stupid beyond belief.

Re: Democrat: Mothers Sure Are Lazy!
Why does the dignity of a person's work matter?
Democrats have something better to offer people:
Free [stuff]! Forever! With no consequences!
On a less nasty note:
This could/would be extremely potent if
1. It occurred four months from now.
2. It could be pinned very directly to Obama.
3. It were promoted properly.
None of those things are going to happen, so no matter how offensive it is, it won't amount to anything.

Re: Democrat: Mothers Sure Are Lazy!
I think we can be appropriately denunciatory of Rosen's outrageous statements without indulging in homophobia. Her official bio points out that she and her partner did raise two children. Which makes her a partisan hypocrite for her comments on Ann Romney, and not a clueless bigot. If we want to get ad feminem - and Rosen being a throughly unsympathetic character I see no reason not to - we could point to her time as CEO of the RIAA, which perpetrated some really obnoxious abuses of public policy like the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Re: Democrat: Mothers Sure Are Lazy!
Well, there are certainly lesbians who are mothers. Given that most of them (I'd guess) are single, they probably work harder than those with spouses around to help out.
What astounds me is the utter lack of empathy and awareness. I mean, she must know mothers, even if she might not be one herself. Maybe even her own mother, you'd think.
And they say Republicans are waging a War Against Women.

I wouldn't presume to tell a neuroscientist how easy or tough his job is, nor would I opine on the rigors of being a long haul truck driver. Ms. Rosen hasn't the foggiest clue of what it means to be a mother of five boys, or in my shoes as a mom who raised my daughter alone after my husband died in the line of duty. It is profoundly insulting rhetoric. Either you believe people are equal, or you don't. Ms. Rose clearly doesn't get that. Mrs. Romney is lovely, smart and wonderful mother of five successful boys. That is a damn better accomplishment than lifelong staffer and moutthpiece.

Re: Democrat: Mothers Sure Are Lazy!
I don't know what her official bio states--but the Wikipedia article to which Mollie links only states that she and her "partner" had twins; that she resigned her current job (as the Queen of Darkness of the RIAA--creator of the DMCA, and abuser of the legal process who terrorized thousands of college students and their parents--but I digress) to spend more time with her partner and their twins. She and the partner separated two and a half years later.
On the whole, I'd say she's not the person I'd want out trash-talking a full-time mom with five grown children, whose battling MS, were it my campaign.
Next question: will Mitt Romney respond appropriately, or will this be his Mike Dukakis moment?

Re: Democrat: Mothers Sure Are Lazy!
Which is harder work, a career or motherhood? I've done both, not simultaneously. They're both hard work. The difference is, one offers performance evaluations, promotions, and paychecks. The other has less, um, tangible rewards. But aren't we all finally weary of this debate? Can't we all agree to be pro-choice on this one and just get on with it? The Left really does demand conformity.

Re: Democrat: Mothers Sure Are Lazy!
It is a truly sorry sign of the times when a major political party decides to go Rambo on a woman with such impeccable standards and values.

I missed that (despite being the person linking to her Wikipedia file)! So this woman has kids? Wow. How could she say such a foolish thing?

Re: Democrat: Mothers Sure Are Lazy!
It's called "outsourcing." Lesbian partners have to outsource the male half of the creation of children. That is not inexpensive. If you have that kind of dough you can also go "au pair" (God forbid you'd use a domestic nanny, unless you could go the full Kimba Wood and get a discount from those nasty Social Security payments!)
Re: Democrat: Mothers Sure Are Lazy!
Hilary Rosen keeps stepping in it. Here's her supposed apology tweet:
Even David Axelrod hopped on Twitter to denounce her remarks. She should know that real apologies can't include the word "but."

Re: Democrat: Mothers Sure Are Lazy!
Unbelievable! Motherhood is a 24/7 job, and Anne performed it times five with admirable results, a debilitating disease and a frequently traveling husband. She and Mitt seem to have an incredibly strong marriage in spite of lots of pressures, and that is selfless hard work. Take a bow, Anne. We can't wait to have you as our First Lady!

Re: Democrat: Mothers Sure Are Lazy!
By this time, after innumerable episodes of Dems and Liberals foully trash-talking conservative women over all manner of issues; after innumerable episodes of Dems and Liberals howling in anguished protests whenever a conservative makes even a comparatively weak critique, it ought to be clear that the threshold for conservatives is apole vault, while the threshold for liberals is a crack in the sidewalk.

Re: Democrat: Mothers Sure Are Lazy!
When Hillary Rosen says that Ann Romney has never worked a day in her life she means as an employee because going to a job is the only kind of work she values. These people really do (as Tammy Bruce always says) have a compulsion to confess: they may love motherhood, but they do not respect it, not even their own.

Re: Democrat: Mothers Sure Are Lazy!
I clicked through Jim Treacher's FB post on this subject and read her response - had to stop halfway through. She's a lousy writer. But I digress.
In her response she said she admires women who "choose" to be stay-at-home moms, but says the choice is a luxury few women can afford. Whatever.
Please, Hilary, keep talking. I guess you think moms are too stupid to understand how condescending you are.
