Speaking of the demonstrative uses of alcohol, Gov. Tim Pawlenty spoke at CPAC today. In speaking about the deficit and spending more than you make, he referred to the difference in behavior observable at a wedding party with an open bar, and one with a cash bar. It was very effective--I've been up since 4:30am (to get to DC on time); am exhausted; and yet the speech element still resonates.
