Debate Scorecard
Technical difficulties aside, which I have been assured that the Blue Yeti will fix, Ricochet's live chat on last night's debate was a hoot. Peter was missed, of course, but we hope he won't have deadline issues getting in the way of future live chats. I wrote up my thoughts on the debate itself on NRO, but in a nutshell, I thought this debate was much harder-hitting, and therefore much better preparation for the upcoming 2012 cage match with President Obama, than the last one. Romney held on to his pole position, Bachmann impressed again, and Gingrich was much better than he was last time, which was right after his staff had just deserted him.

Re: Debate Scorecard
What I like about Bachmann is, she doesn't have to remember what her staff decided that she thinks about an issue. She knows what she thinks, and so, just says it. It makes campaigning a lot easier. Less to remember.

I was reading Steyn, so I took my cue and had a blast while watching the end of Western Civilization as we know it. My best material ended up on the cutting room floor which is unfortunate because I can't recall the set up but the punchline was: Wankel Rotary Engine.
I agree that it was Romney, Bachmann, Gingrich or R,G,B or G,R,B depending upon your tolerance for bloviating windbaggish accusations directed at the media as some type of reflexive persecution complex.
Toward the end -- after I'd had my 2nd martini -- Pawlenty was starting to morph into Uncle Fester from The Munsters and Ron Paul had some kind of TinTin vibe happening. I don't remember anything after that but I have a terrible headache this morning and my left kidney is missing.

Not to nitpick, but Uncle Fester was from the Adams Family. Grandpa Muster was from the Munsters. Those must have been some good Martini's ;-)
Carry on!!

It was certainly harder-hitting, but with quite a nasty tone. It seemed that most of the questions were petty. Newt had a great point that the questions needed to be more serious. It also seemed that Wallace went out of his way to amplify the most negative memes about each candidate and focused on inside baseball and starting fights than wanting to discover who might be the best nominee.. This looks to me like serial smears and a show-trial in the guise of a debate.
