From an email I just received from our own Dave Carter. Dave won't post it--he wouldn't want to seem to be flattering the Ricochet members who have commented on his own posts--but me? I feel no such inhibition.

Dear Peter,

Just a few thoughts here, if I may, about Ricochet. The quality of Contributors is just out of this world. I always got the sense that Pat Sajak was extremely smart, but the analysis he brings to the discussion is wonderful, and his unique way of applying a gracefully light touch to serious topics is effective and delightful. The colorful delivery of James Lileks, the grace and power of Andrew Klavan,...it's all so incredibly engaging to read.

But as addicted as I am to reading the Contributors' thoughts, the Members are simply incredible. If you haven't seen the member comments to my post about mechanical ineptitude, take a moment and read through them. They are hilarious! If these were the type of people Bill Buckley had in mind when he made his remark about preferring to be governed by the first 2,000 names from the Boston phone directory rather than the faculty of Harvard, I can certainly understand his position.

Me too. And Bill would have loved Ricochet. Just loved it.
