This video of Medvedev dancing in that classically weird KGB-just-wanna-have fun way to the 90s Russian hit "American Boy" has quickly gone viral:
A comment below the video has me a bit alarmed. When the new anti-American epithet is "global socialist," we know something's gone pear-shaped. Remember the good old days when we were the scourge of the world because we were global capitalists?

Globalist Socialist? I wouldn't take the comments in youtube videos seriously Claire, it was probably written by a 13 year old. I don't think anyone else comments on youtube videos :P.
Oh, and Medvedev dances like a thug. Figures.

If you look carefully, you can see the strings from Putin's fingers making Medvedev's limbs move. Pretty impressive performance, if you look at it that way.
Claire: Maybe I'm a glass-half-full kind of guy, but could this be interpreted as a good sign? If being "socialist" is an epithet, aren't we capitalists winning something crucial?

Claire , I just checked out the comment section below this video and found the one you were talking about. I clicked on the persons link and I tracked it to HERE. The guy looks like some sort of New World Order Conspiracy crackpot. I try not to read any comments below any of the videos on You Tube because they are usually foul-mouthed, juvenile and ignorant.

I just hope that this video functions as a small contribution toward the movement to disabuse world leaders of the notion that the responsibility to dance to bad music in public places doctrine (R2D2 doctrine) demonstrates their "populist" credentials is a good idea.
Second: Has Russian pop-music always been so bad? It's no wonder the Soviet Union fell!

My wife, who is never wrong about these things, thinks Medvedev looks a little gay. Think of him as the construction worker in the Village People.

Better yet, Putin is actually a gay icon in Russia. Especially after he pranced around without his shirt on. I don't think that was the PR department's plan.
