Welcome to the premiere episode of Beltway Buzz with Robert Costa and Andrew Stiles.  Robert and Andrew cover Capitol Hill for National Review, so this podcast will be an insider's look at how the wheels of government actually turn. Here's how they describe it:

Robert Costa

Every day, we cover the the conservative movement and the Republican Party from the inside. We
huddle with aides near the House chamber, and we interview senators near the strange, underground trains that connect their offices with the Capitol. We hear a lot, and those conversations fuel our reporting for National Review. But there's always more, and that's what we love to talk about--after our stories are filed.

This week, a look back at the State of The Union speech, the rise of Ted Cruz, the Hagel nomination,

Andrew Stiles

Andrew Stiles

Boehner's calculation, and some (unsolicited) advice for how the Republicans in the Senate ought to proceed in this session.

Fantastic idea for a podcast. Robert, I've always enjoyed your reporting. Andrew, I look forward to your insights as well. For someone such as me who also gets a daily up-close view of the wheels of government turning, this podcast presents a fantastic means by which to let the broader swath of conservatives know why certain things happen or don't.

Looking forward to listening.

Hopefully this podcast becomes the "Nuts and Bolts" podcast, not just another "conservative philosophy" podcast.

Yeti, just so you know...the iTunes link that the subscribe button takes you to points to Law Talk, not Buzz.

We'll get that fixed.

It should show up on Stitcher next week. It takes them a few days to add a new show.

Great podcast, I think you guys hit the nail on the head with Obama's strategy of painting the GOP Congress as racist/sexist/rich elitists leading up to 2014 (the mendacity of it is depressing).

But recognizing the strategy, what can be done about it?

IMO the only response is to call out Obama for his scorched Earth strategy at every turn. Attempt to disarm him by calling attention to his cynicism. Call out the media for helping perpetuate the narrative.

Dismiss it as a cynical distraction and then go on the attack on the economy/debt/unemployment.

And we have to bring our message to low information voter venues, as unpleasant as that may be.

Good podcast Bob and Andrew!!  Maybe as your podcast evolves (wait, are conservatives supposed to believe in evolution....hehehehe), you guys can drag in some congressional staffers to interview (identities hidden for the protection of the innocent, of course)....

By the way, who picked the theme music??  Not sure two guys should end a podcast with that particular tune, but to each his own I suppose....

The plan is to have guests on occasionally. And I picked the music. The closing song will change with every show.

I admit I don't get at all the focus on "damage" to Rubio from the water bottle incident.

Damage?  Harm?  Are you kidding me?  That story by brain-dead lefty echo types was a gift

Inside-the-beltway tin-eared commentators just did him a giant favor.
