huge-crowd

We thought we'd try something a little different for this week's podcast. Each week, I create a rundown for the hosts. It lists the guests and their bios, the approximate times for each segment (usually very approximate), suggested questions, promotional reminders, and of course, the copy for our weekly Encounter Books spot. You can view last week's rundown here

For tomorrow's show, we're doing two segments: the first will be an open roundtable with James, Rob, and Peter (no guests this week). The second will be the long promised appearance -- and a Ricochet Podcast first -- of members Kenneth and Pilgrim. They won the election pool last fall, and after months of scheduling snafus, we are finally awarding them their prize.

But instead of me creating the rundown this week, we're turning that awesome responsibility over to you, the Ricochet membership. What topics would you like to hear the hosts discuss? There certainly is plenty to talk about. I know what I'd put on the rundown, but this week, that's going to be up to you (uh, within reason of course -- the CoC is in force for this experiment). Leave your topics in the comments and I'll collect them tonight and post the rundown publicly. Please be sure to specify which segment you are suggesting a topic for. The podcast should be available by late afternoon ET tomorrow.

Wonderful!

I'd like to hear Kenneth and Pilgrim discuss the hearing that Rep. King is convening as well as foreign policy and America's role abroad. I'm looking forward to this.

As far as Peter, Rob and James; they could discuss anything and I'd listen.

Something contentious! I'll think of something. I want to hear Kenneth on his worst behavior.

Glancing at the Drudge headlines, rising gas prices and their effects seem a relevant topic.

The podcast should end with opinions of The Duke. It would be a lively debate, I think. [the Kenneth-Pilgrim podcast]

Yeah, why is that guy so grumpy and acidic all of the time?!  And when will we get to see his softer, kinder, gentler, more respectful side?

For Kenneth & Pilgrim: 1) what recent posts on Ricochet got their blood boiling, or make them stop & think about an issue differently?  2) what is their thought process on selecting topics they post?

Geez, you guys are really putting the pressure on.  I was hoping for some softballs like "What sort of tree would you be?' or "Who was your favorite Teletubby?"

What do Kenneth and Pilgrim think should be done, if anything, to reform Social Security and Medicare? We always hear about how tea party advocates are insincere because they don't want to touch entitlements, so, where do you guys stand?

The continued existence of Western democracy depends on whether the democratic peoples are capable of dealing seriously and realistically with this fundamental issue. Social regeneration of spiritual renewal is not just a high-sounding phrase which can be left to preachers and moralists; it is the basic sociological problem of our time. For unless we find a way to restore the contact between the life of society and the life of the spirit, our civilization will be destroyed by the forces which it had the knowledge to create but not the wisdom to control."

Please ask Rob how he got his start as a writer in Hollywood and how he came to be conservative.

Another question for Rob: Do you think your personality helps the lefties in Hollywood tolerate you? In other words if you weren't so funny and likable do you think they would turn their backs on you because of your politics?

A request for Rob. Please stop using the term RINO -it's outdated. Everyone knows a Republican can believe anything he/she wishes.

I need more topics for the first segment. Little help, please! And the floor is now open for nominations for Ricochet Member Post of The Week.

I nominate fullfrontal's post about how we need to raise taxes.  100-plus comments, all of which were negative - and many of which were the keypad equivalent of eye-gouging and ear-biting.

I don't know how fullfrontal felt about it, but when I can attract that much animosity, I'm a happy man.

Dual citizenship. (Wasn't there a time when if one carried a US passport they could not carry one from another country?)  How might this affect the anchor baby problem?

Well, all the other candidates are going after Daniels about his "social truce" comment, (see Ricochet headlines feature) so that seems a logical choice of topic.

I'd actually like to hear Kenneth discuss that one.

Dang.  How long did this take to put together?  Think I've had two minor heart attacks, three tragic break-ups and a kidney failure since this was announced (sorry bout that, I'll clean it up in post-production).  My Pilgrim coaching is totally passe by now.  Something to do with Jeri Ryan being married to Fred Thompson.  But funnier.

OK, here's a good topic which can lead anywhere people want to go.  How do you assess John Boehner's premiership so far?  Also, what is your stance on cowboy poetry?

I shall now retire to the AAA bleachers to pitch quarters and heckle "suhWING-batta-batta!"

Does a Member lose some of that mystique once the rest of us hear their voices? What if they sound weird? Could this be a fiasco, the beginning of the end of Ricochet as we know it? No pressure guys.
