Lord knows, there's no shortage of areas in which to be critical of President Obama. However, as evidenced below, the ability to carry a tune isn't one of them. The guy can sing. There is also something to be admired about having the guts to sing a bit of Al Green's masterpiece Let's Stay Together in front of Al Green himself (interesting choice of lyrics to croon in front of a Democratic audience too). Let's hope the President doesn't challenge the Republican nominee to a sing-off in the debates this fall. I doubt Newt, Mitt, or Rick could pull this off.

Update: Well, my instincts were correct. Governor, don't ever sing in public again:

Whoever the nominee ends up being should just bring Herman Cain along to be the pinch singer.

This is the first time in quite a while that listening to Obama didn't grate on my ears.

Not a bad singer at all. He missed his calling. And I'd like to be the first to say contrary to the cliche, "Quit your day job"

I think the song on his audience's mind is Diana Ross' "You Keep Me Hangin' On."

We've just seen a glimpse of Obama's campaign strategy. He did more to help his re-election chances in those few seconds than anything else to date.

Dottie Rambo's classic.

Herman had better be careful on that bus, though.  Dottie (whose song "I Go To The Rock" was featured in The Preacher's Wife) died a couple of years ago when her custom tour bus crashed while out heading for a concert date.

Obama is better singer than Romney.  I guess he needed to be better at something.

I wouldn't pay for an "Obama Sings the Blues" album, however.  Cain, yes; Obama, no.

Nonsense!  I could sing that song and make everybody in the room stop what they are doing, and I'm an ofay southern conservative.  The voice I heard in that brief clip was airy and tepid, just a guy trying to get a dance with a girl.  That's Obama.

I have been in the most redneck, southern, fight-in-the-parking-lot bar and had people that were, (literally) shooting arrows at the DJ booth wander  in, shuffling their feet, wondering how that communist Harry Belafonte got in the back door.

It's all he's got and it's all smoke and mirrors, folks.

While he was sleeping, before being driven, way out to Pounahou, I was singing rythym and blues classics, folding papers, then delivering one to his family's doorstep.  I rode my bike to the Aina Haina public school, after delivering the papers.  He's never done anything and he just sang a couple of airy opening lines that have served him well, picking up chicks.

Are you chicks?  (apologies to 'teer females that consider themselves chicks).

Hey!  I didn't say Obama was good, only better than Romney.  At least in these video examples.

I wonder if he knows the words to the national Anthem?

Yes, but perhaps more in keeping with his early years, if he could sing "Moon of Manakoora" like Alfred Apaka did, -I- might even vote for him!

The first combined admission for running on his record, song, then dance.

At least we know that if the American people have the good sense not to re-elect him in 2012, Barack Obama will have a job waiting in an Al Green tribute band.

Yes.  Let's get you into the studio on Jan. 21st, 2013.

How about an "Obama Brings the Blues" album? It's a double-disc set.
