Correction: Imam Feisal Was not at Hezb ut-Tahrir Conference

Good news. Madeleine Brooks has issued a correction. Imam Feisal was not at a conference sponsored by Hizb ut-Tahrir, just a conference where some members of Hizb ut-Tahrir were present. I still wouldn't have gone, if I were him, just knowing they would be there. But that's not quite the same as accepting an invitation to their conference.

Claire, here is an American Muslim, a truly moderate man. His voice should be heard all around the world and on every blog, radio, and TV show.

Thank you, Claire, for making the correction. It doesn't change my mind about the mosque or the imam, but you've reaffirmed my conviction that we on the right are the more fair-minded ones. Cheers.
Re: Correction: Imam Feisal Was not at Hezb ut-Tahrir Conference
Casey, I'm thrilled to have been wrong about this. This debate just can't be allowed to become a Right-Left point-scoring battle; it's a national security issue. I would be delighted to have all of my concerns about Imam Feisal allayed. I hope they will be (though I'm not ripely optimistic). Everyone wins if there's nothing to allegations like this. The goal here is not to assume that Feisal's a sinister figure and then find anything that looks like evidence to support this claim; it's to look at the evidence first and then come to logical conclusions based on it. I hope he's every bit as moderate and peace-loving as he says. How can anyone concerned with America's future feel otherwise?
