Commissioner Supports Marlins
Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig said he supported the decision of the Miami Marlins to suspend Ozzie Guillen over the fiery manager's comments about Fidel Castro. Selig called Guillen's remarks "offensive to an important part of the Miami community and others throughout the world" and "have no place in our game." Commissioner Selig, seated below with Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos and--er...never mind.

Wow, that's gotta be real .They probably use fishnet behind home in Havana.Fidel doesn't have any grey hair, so this could have been taken anytime during 1975-2075.And baseball people are like media people anyway aren't they ?So hobnobbing with hobgoblins is just that, like a photo-op with Ted McGinley.

The Orioles played an exhibition game in Havana in 1999. That was not received well in the Cuban-American community either.

Re: Commissioner Supports Marlins
I was going to say that EJ Hill has stolen Pat's identity but I think flownover is right. If so, I would expect this to go viral in the conservative blogworld. The liberal media will continue to blame the whole problem on the arcane intolerance of the Cuban American community.

Orioles against Cuban national team March 28, 1999. Peter Angelos is a big sap for Castro. It was televised in the USA on ESPN.
Re: Commissioner Supports Marlins
Thanks for the reminder of this ridiculous exhibition game. I love baseball but Angelos and Selig are the worst. An embarrassment.

Re: Commissioner Supports Marlins
I visited Cuba in 2004 and tell people that I wish every liberal could visit Cuba to see what collectivism ultimately leads to, which is not pretty. I went to a baseball game which was awesome. The game cost 10 pesos for Cubans which I think was worth about ten cents, but when our small group of Americans showed up we were sent to multiple ticket windows before someone made up a price to charge us. Ten dollars, American only, por vavor. There was a crowd larger than the typical Major league crowd in the US but the baseball didn't appear to me to be better than single A level. A kid came up and asked if we wanted a beer and he ran to the grocery store to buy it for us. It appeared that a fight was going to break out in the stands due to the usual bantering among the fans who were more than 50% female, so we left with the score somewhere in the range of 22 to 18.

This type of nonsense wouldn't be allowed on a Steinbrenner team.

I think there's a "Hemingway" story in here somewhere...Ernest...unless Mollie wants to have a go at it, too.

Not unlike Lowry contra Derb. He heard something he didn't like....so "Shut up!" he explained.
I don't care for witch burnings.
Re: Commissioner Supports Marlins
Really makes me sick to see the Commissioner of Baseball fraternizing with a left-wing tinpot lowlife who manipulates a one-party legislature for his own personal enrichment and whose taking power resulted in the utter destruction of a theretofore thriving, successful enterprise at the hands of him and his immediate family. Also Fidel, that bloodsoaked tyrant.

"offensive to an important part of the Miami community and others throughout the world"
When someone declares their "love" for a murderous dictator it is offensive. PERIOD. Since when does such a thing depend on location?
If I expressed a love for Apartheid would that sentiment be any less reprehensible if expressed in Antarctica?

Hey, Bill I agree with Mollie, but keep in mind it's early yet. PS I love you Pat (that's ok isn't it?).
