Take a minute-and-a-half to watch this astonishing display.  Among Democrats, Matthews demonstrates, discontent with the chief executive has now turned into contempt.

Note, by the way, that Matthews drops even the usual pretense of impartiality, repeatedly using "we" to refer to Democrats and at one point calling upon Barack Obama, the "commander," to "give us our orders."

Wait a minute -- Matthews "drops" pretense at impartiality?  Did he ever pretend to be impartial?  I wouldn't have guessed.

Aw, somebody needs a hug -- and a phone call.

Chris Matthews is worried about long-term debt?  Chris Matthews can do math?

There’s something interesting here.

According to the historians, we human beings have a tendency to blame the king’s advisers before blaming the king directly. (If only the king knew what it was like for us out here in the villages!) In a democracy, we are more likely to do this with our own party. What’s interesting to me is that Matthews starts blaming the advisers. And then he hits Obama directly: “He doesn’t like their company,” and then, interrupting the interviewer as though she hadn’t completely understood: “That’s a problem, by the way.”

Okay, okay.  You've got me on that one.

I'm no prognosticator but it seems a good bet that someone forgot the shut the door to hell and it got a little drafty over the weekend. I'm not suggesting by any means that it was anywhere close to the boiling point of water but in relative terms it must have gotten a little nippy.

Well, he claims to be center left.  Here we see him making a bid for credibility on one or the other -- I'm not sure which.

"Little kids with propellers on their heads?" From a host of an MSNBC show, no less?

This never would have happened if David Axelrod was still alive.

Except for our Declaration of Independence...where we blamed all of Parliament's ills on King George...

Is Matthews blaming the advisers so he doesn't get called a racist?  ;)

Am I the only one who thinks Matthews' rant sounds a lot like this guy?

That wasn't the first document. It came after a long line of petitions, some of which hoped to inform the King of precisely this.

In retrospect, the strategy to run Obama in 2008 on the Messiah ticket probably wasn't such a good idea. It worked great for getting elected, but it left him nowhere to go but down.

That was slightly disturbing.  Tell us where you're going and we'll follow you, wherever it takes us.

You meant "freezing point", right?

Otherwise, I like it. A simple sentiment, but larded with a dense suet of verbiage. Chris Matthews, I mean.

No. I meant boiling point. To say freezing point would be far too optimistic :)

Anyone want to give odd on Matthews having an exclusive interview with "The One" before Christmas....?

I sit corrected, sir. As they say, it's your metaphor, and an apt one at that. As for optimism, I'll settle for hoping Mr. Matthews has somewhat less to get tingly over this time around.

Oh no worries at all.

As for Mr. Matthews, here's to hoping that he will be more discriminating when selecting his next neuropathy. Perhaps the preceding sense of overwhelming euphoria will be a warning sign to him on the next occasion. That he should stop partying and immediately consume large quantities of activated charcoal, then quickly plunge a syringe of adrenaline directly into his heart mussel. Both together to counter act the overdose of progressive liberalism that will undoubtedly follow without immediate attention. Watching him now in the withdraw phase is quite predictable yet most unpleasant --- and perhaps --- maybe just a little bit --- gratifying.
