The Chinese have been hacking into the New York Times, according to the New York Times:

Security experts hired by The Times to detect and block the computer attacks gathered digital evidence that Chinese hackers, using methods that some consultants have associated with the Chinese military in the past, breached The Times’s network. They broke into the e-mail accounts of its Shanghai bureau chief, David Barboza, who wrote the reports on Mr. Wen’s relatives, and Jim Yardley, The Times’s South Asia bureau chief in India, who previously worked as bureau chief in Beijing.

So now we know who has been writing all of those Thomas Friedman columns.

Why would anybody want to hack into the NY Times?  Do they need a blueprint for going out of business?

You think those guys could recognize a hack from a mile away.

You contributor/editor types need to search the member posts before getting all redundant.

Indeed. I'm thankful for this explanation, actually.

I think CheneyMcBushHitlerHaliburton hacked into the "New" York Times and wrote this story so the Koch brothers could short the stock.

Apparently, some prominent members of the Chinese military are sick and tired of being bested by Will Shortz.

So, it turns out that "Paul Krugman" is actually a 14-year-old girl named Mei.

That explains a lot, actually.

It must have been the Chinese ministry of disinformation.

Given the sheer hackitude of the NYT, it is a wonder the Chinese hackers were discovered at all. Talk about signal to noise!

Of course, the Chinese code probably was only coherent text on the NYT servers. It must have stuck out like a sore thumb.

It will be interesting to see if/what they editorialize about this. Imagine the howling if some agency of the US Gov't did this? Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the Koch Bros. are Boy Scouts compared to these guys.

Finally, I have many former colleagues and friends who went through heck on the NYT account. Let me just say that many a glass will be raised to those Chicom hackers. Ganbei!

Yes, but who hacked in and forged the Krugman articles?  My money is on Iran there.
