Charlie Crist

Charlie Crist has opened up a solid lead in his race to remain the most egregious, appalling, and greasy governor in America. I feel sick:

The latest survey has Crist ahead of Rubio by 41 percent to 30 percent with 12 percent for Democratic Rep. Kendrick Meek. The race is a little closer if billionaire Jeff Greene wins the Democratic nomination later this month, with Crist leading Rubio 37 percent to 29 percent with 16 percent for Greene. The margin of error is 4 points.

John McCormack has more in the Weekly Standard. Is there a more repellent politician in office? Is there a more transparent, dishonest, creepy, or downright orange officeholder in the land? Say what you like about that crazy, mean old bag of bones Pete Stark or the tax cheating Charlie Rangel -- both of those guys have a certain malignant integrity.

Charlie Crist now says that most, if not all, of what he's stood for and campaigned on these past few years has been, essentially, a lie. In other words, he's campaigning as the Man You Can't Trust.

And it seems to be working. Some politicians make you angry. Some make you sad. Some make you frightened. But some just make you sick.

In an age that values diversity above all other things, surely it's time we had an Orange-American Senator.

This bugs me a lot, just as the possible Harry Reid recovery does in Nevada. We always find a way to blow it.

I agree, Duane. I honestly can't figure out Florida. The guy is George Hamilton's doppelganger, for Pete's sake.

He's been making me sick since the chatter about him potentially being McCain's running mate led to a sudden engagement. I don't like to spread gossip, but in his case...they're not rumors. He's got a long history of conduct unbecoming of an elected official (or a human being, actually). It's not surprising to me that this would lead to a lack of political accountability. He's always been good at looking out for number one. So I'm not shocked. But it's still sickening.

Isn't there a romantic match here for an orange senator?

Alright, I'm gonna try to defend Chuck. Since he is being treated entirely fairly and a fairly treated politician is brutalized.

So, to answer the charges: yes Rob, there is a more repellent pol, Specter is still in office. Chuck may be Dorian Gray, but Arlen is the picture. Probably no one is as transparent as Crist, but several states' congressional delegations are similarly dishonest. John Kerry is as creepy as anyone who probably won't really do anything, and John Boehner, while not quite as orange, is clearly not ceding this title without a scrap.

Nobody has the whole package like Crist.
