In his final two months in the governor's mansion, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist has a few important loose ends to which he must attend:

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist is considering a December surprise: a posthumous pardon for Jim Morrison, lead singer of The Doors, for indecent exposure charges after an infamous 1969 Miami concert.

In a phone interview with The Hill, Crist said “stay tuned” regarding the idea of a posthumous pardon for the singer who died in Paris in 1971...

“Candidly, it's something that I haven’t given a lot of thought to, but it's something I’m willing to look into in the time I have left,” said Crist. “Anything is possible.”

Morrison, a native of Melbourne, Fla., was convicted of indecent exposure and profanity after a March 1, 1969, concert in Miami in which he allegedly exposed himself and acted lewdly. He had seen a provocative stage play the night before in Los Angeles and was purported to have drank steadily that day en route to Florida.

Charlie Crist, giving new meaning to 'lame duck'.

It so nice having the hippies in charge. Now we can get the important things taken care of instead of worrying about those issues that "The Man" cares about.

Actually Crist may be doing Jim Morrison a disservice. I think he was proud of that arrest, and I'm sure he was appreciative of all the publicity. Why would anyone take all that away from him?

Now if Crist could invent a time machine, and go back and destroy all the orginal recordings of "LA Woman," Morrison's surviving discography wouldn't be half as banal and loathsomely repetititve as it is today.

Agrre, totally, Here. Jim Morrison if he could would "posthumously" reject the pardon, no doubt. This is beyond ridiculous.

People like Crist (and there are too many like him) trying to look hip and relevant .. he might as well don a Nehru jacket and a medallion. My Generation isn't "same as the old boss" but even worse. Pathetic.

It's good to see Charlie focusing like a tangerine laser on the issues that really matter to Floridians.

Hey, Charlie. Got any of those funds left over from those Republicans donors who thought you were not going to challenge Rubio after the primary like you promised? If so, perhaps you could do the honorable thing by giving it back.

Of course, if you've spent it all I'm sure some of them might need some chores done around the house or maybe have their lawns mowed once in a while. I mean you're going to have a lot of free time on your hands. It could keep you out of trouble.

If Jim Morrison were still alive, one could argue that "he's paid his debt", and justify a pardon. But since he's ashes and dust, this only has meaning as a symbolic gesture. Since I doubt Crist is generally in favor of men whipping it out, it must be because Jim Morrison was a V.I.P. who deserved a little droit du seignieur, a concept not unfamiliar to Charlie Crist.

Let's be thankful he's merely the governor of Florida. Had he been from California, perhaps Roman Polanski would be sitting in a villa in the Hollywood Hills now, instead of Gstaad.

It speaks volumes that a guy on his way out of office is "considering" pardoning a dead person. Fish or cut bait, man! Make a decision.
