In our latest poll of Ricochet Members (Dec. 13-16), Newt Gingrich's lead over Mitt Romney has narrowed to about 3 percentage points.
Every candidate is viewed with distaste in some way by the vast majority of you. Rick Perry fares best with a whopping 23% viewing him as lacking "serious flaws," followed by Jon Huntsman at 21%.
Romney is viewed as electable by 87% of you, followed by Gingrich at 61%.

If Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum are ricochet members, I wonder how they would have answered this survey...

There are three reasons Rick Perry deserves a second look: 1) he's principled; 2) he's tough; and 3) uh . . . I'll get back to you on the third reason.

The more I think about it, the more I'm okay with Romney.
Remember the goals: defeat Obama, repeal Obamacare, and reduce government spending. Romney gets two out of three, at least.

I too tried to vote early and often (to counter-balance Mr. Tee) , but the d**ned computer wouldn't let me.
We do confirm the conventional wisdom: it's a two-horse race (unless, of course, it turns out that it isn't).

Note that Perry rises when Newt falls. Perry's best hope is that Romney and Gingrich will fight over the same votes. On Ricochet, I've seen some Newt supporters drift toward Romney, but none drift the other way.
What most interests me at this point is who, if anyone, will drop out in the coming months. When Fred Thompson dropped out in the last primaries, that left a lot of voters scrambling for a new candidate. Only Hunstman dropping out would benefit Romney.

Did Santorum and Bachmann drop out of the race?
