Can Sharron Angle Beat Harry Reid?
Two new polls have her in the lead, just by a hair. Rasmussen has Angle up by 4 points, while a CNN/Time poll from yesterday has her leading by 2 points.
Is Harry Reid starting to sweat? Back in June, when Sharron Angle won the GOP primary, news reports were saying that Reid "got the race he wanted." Where is that hubris now?
I know we all love speculating about Christine O'Donnell's chances of a big win come November, but a Sharron Angle win would be far more consequential and symbolic, don't you think? After all, Angle would be picking off Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader--the big bad bogeyman, along with Nancy Pelosi, of the tea partiers. If she pulls it off, that would be something.

Yep, just like I love speculating about that Lotto ticket in my wallet.

Considering that Nevada has a useless None of the Above choice I think a victory by Angle will be even more notable than were this a straight Red v Angle ticket.
.
In Nevada you can vote for NOTA, but under the foolish rules they created it's a wasted vote for sure, but you'll feel good about sticking it to them.
Under the NOTA rules, if NOTA garners 51% of the vote, the person who finishes Second will be elected.
.
This leads me to conclude that the rules for NOTA were designed by Democrats and Gone Along With by Republicans. Thus proving P.J. O'Rourkes Belief that we do have a Two Party System - We have an Evil Party and a Stupid Party.
.
Of course once she was able to clarify her record after a Grayson style attack ad by Reid mis-used her words she was able to close any lead he held before things got out of hand.
I cannot wait to say So Long Harry on November 3.

I wonder what is more useless (or what sticks it to the establishment politicians more): casting your vote, in a hypothetical race, as none of the above, or for the third party candidate.

Emily, if you carefully study the history of 3rd parties, you will find that they've been extremely influential. Progressives, Republicans (vs. Whigs), Greens, Libertarians - they've all achieved their aims of forcing the dominant parties to accomodate their views.
Few people understand this, but it is undeniably true.

What upsets me is this is another in a great American tradition of half way measures. You'd think that the "Success" of the Missouri Compromise would have taught us the simple lesson that doing something that may be right, but doing it the Wrong Way is, quite simply, Doing the Wrong Thing.
.
At least if the third party gets a plurality the candidate wins. (See Jessie Ventura for a complete description of the wisdom of such a choice)
.
Little P.S. regarding O'Donnell, Seems Mr. Castle was a co sponsor of HR 3808, a little bombshell that's going to sneak in to allow easier access for Bank Foreclosures.

From the start, I thought that Angle would win and that she would do so in the most devastating way possible -- by making a principled argument against what Obama, Emanuel, Pelosi, and Reid have shoved down our throats. Let me add that I believe that she will win handily. Who is going to turn out for Dingy Harry?
Keep in mind that Angle has held public office in the Nevada assembly; that she stood up to a Republican Governor intent on raising taxes; and that -- when that Governor did an end run around the state constitution by getting the Supreme Court to nullify a provision in that constitution requiring a 2/3rds majority to raise taxes -- she saw to the retirement of every judge on the court. She is a force of nature.

We'll see. The Nevada Senate race is my personal bellwether race for this election. If Reid prevails- more likely, I believe, because Angle is the candidate than if one of the other two had won (based on the campaign mechanics and images, not philosophy/positions)- we will have blown it very big time.

Re: Can Sharron Angle Beat Harry Reid?
Course she can. It's a referendum on the incumbent, who has terrible re-elect numbers, in the state with the highest unemployment in the nation. Undecideds always swing to the challenger. The None of the Above option does complicate matters, minimally. But not enough to make up for Reid's hopeless disadvantage. Smart money (that'd be me) is on Angle.
Reid's been sweating since he realized there's an election this year.
