I only recently (alas) discovered Ricochet, but this site and the podcasts are far and away my favorite political/econ news/commentary source now (Breitbart, Drudge and NRO were before, but time on those sites has been eclipsed by far by Ricochet). Question for the Founders and all you Ricochet veterans-- any particular podcasts from the archives you recommend as "must listens"?  I've gone back 6 months or so and pulled a sample selection based on intriguing titles and/or guests I know I like.  But what have we newcomers missed from day one that we should make a priority to go back and listen to?

I'd suggest all the Law Talks.  The flagship is great, but its driven by events, so in a way it can get stale of its old.  Law Talk is driven by events, but less so.

The three Goldberg, Steyn, Long podcasts. My favorite from the flagship is still #51, Pump the Baseline.

I particularly enjoyed the one with Dennis Prager where they spent a great deal of time talking about classical music.

Wasn't there one way early that featured both Steyn and Goldberg?  Or have I invented that?

Also, the addition of James has been great.  He keeps things moving with his odd, but brilliant, segues and his hilarious interjections into otherwise serious discussions.

Also, John "I'm Going to Live on a Desert Island" Podhoretz, is a fantastic guest.  Who'd know the editor of Commentary is a very funny man.

I think the one you're thinking of is the one I linked. James was gone for that one, and listening to Rob trying to keep Mark and Jonah on task and on topic was the biggest part of why it was so good. (That sentence is so bad I won't even try to get the verb agreement right in it. It's easier just to apologize for it.)

James, Peter, and Rob are the Kirk, Spock, and McCoy of podcasting!

I have a habit of inventing events that should have happened.  Glad know this actually happened.

As to that sentence, I think the verbs have decided to just declare a truce.

Yes #51. I believe first podcast of 2011.

One topic was the reading of the constitution at the start of congress. Also foretold was the ultimate cave on the debt limit.

My screen name came from this podcast. Rob Long's response to some  dubious optimism from Peter.

Well, I have a soft spot for the early Jonah/Mark/Rob podcasts, but I still like the incendiary Mike Murphy podcasts, too.

What the heck.  Spend a weekend and listen to them all.

And there's nothing more clarifying (or hilarious) than Law Talk.

For me, though, my favorite of the current podcasts is Young Guns.

Thanks sir!  I fully intend to listen to all (I've not hit a dull one yet, and doubt that is even possible) .  Appreciate the recommendations for the top of the stack!

BTW, I just listened to "How They Got Over."  Russ Roberts' decimation of the "WWII proves Keynes was right" argument alone makes that one a must listen to if anyone missed it.

Steyn, Goldberg, and Long were le-gen-dary. I still have copies, and I still listen to them occasionally. There's just something about the chemistry of those three.

Man, after that Murphy podcast, it was like something out of Frankenstein; we had the torches and pitchforks ready. I kept expecting James Lileks to post "A riot eez an ukly thing!"

My favorites are podcasts including Mark Steyn, VDH, Dennis Prager, Tim Groseclose, Andrew Breitbart, Tucker Carlson, the great Pat Caddell, the awesome Andrew Klavan, Paul Rahe, Haley Barbour, Jonah Goldberg, and, yes, Mike Murphy (you cannot prevail in politics without cataloging and addressing the forces in your path, and Mike is a one man catalog).

I really enjoyed the very recent "To Sweet" episode of the flagship podcast.

What happened to the first podcasts..from way back during the Facebook beta launch? Those were great. If I remember right, they were Peter, Rob, and Mark Steyn. I can't seem to find them under the podcast tab.

I liked when a couple of members were invited on the podcast. And anything with Steyn and/or Breitbart.

I don't have the list in front of me, but there was one with Pat Sajak where they started talking old game shows that was a lot of fun.  One of those Steyn, Goldberg, Long podcasts resulted in that great picture EJ Hill did of LBJ as Moses coming down the mountain holding a basset hound by the ears.

I agree, but they don't seem to want to record it very often, which would make my brown eyes blue, except, I have blue eyes.
