Of the £620.7 bn in total government expenditures for 08/09, the bill for the UK's NHS amounted to 15% of total government expenditures, and spending on the NHS and Department of Health together totaled a third of all expenditures.

To pay for all of this, Britain imposes an onerous marginal income tax rate of 50% on the top bracket, a death tax of 40%, a VAT tax of 20%, a 'National Insurance Contribution' (similar to the U.S. payroll tax) of 11% of wages paid by the employee and 12.8% paid by the employer, a capital gains tax of up to 28%, and other various taxes.

Over the next two decades, the British entitlement system will face the enormous strain of an aging population.  With British fertility rates falling below replacement levels at 1.96 children born per woman, Britons may see their tax burdens increased.  That is, unless something can be done to reverse the population trends.

Enter the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists who seem to have taken upon themselves the mission of lowering further the British fertility rate.  Reports Delia Lloyd at Politics Daily:

According to new medical guidelines being proposed in the U.K., all pregnant women should be told that having a baby is more dangerous than having an abortion.

The guidance was written by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and is intended for all doctors, nurses and women's health professionals advising women who contemplate terminating a pregnancy. The recommendations come in two parts, each of which represents a fairly radical departure from previous guidelines -- and each of which is proving controversial.

The first recommendation, under the heading "what women need to know," instructs health professionals that women "should be advised that abortion is generally safer than continuing a pregnancy to term."

Current guidance simply tells doctors and nurses that they should "be equipped" to provide accurate information about the relative dangers of the two outcomes. Now, for the first time, the RCOM is explicitly invoking comparisons between the relative "costs" of termination vs. childbirth.

The second recommendation is even more of a departure. Until now, the RCOG has advised medical practitioners to tell women that while rates of psychiatric illness and self-harm in women are higher among those who had an abortion, there is no evidence that termination itself was likely to trigger psychological problems.

The new proposal simply says that anyone deciding whether to have an abortion must be told that most women do not suffer any psychological harm.

I'll leave it to our members to editorialize further on what they suppose the motives of this very obviously morally bankrupt body of doctors to be.  But let me just point out that encouraging abortions in a country where the fertility rate is already low seems like pretty dumb retirement planning.

Just another example of Europe's slow-motion moral and literal suicide.

Euthanasia will take care of that imbalance.

How much are they charging per abortion?  There's your answer.

Professional hit men.  Guns for hire, nothing more.

The singular upside to this cult of death that of late has been known as Liberalism, is that with penchants such as these, they are a self solving problem.

They hate life.  They prefer to kill old folks instead of spending money on their maintenance, they tend to snuff their children whenever possible, and they live lives shot through with terrible vice.  Given enough time, they will simply cease to be.

This is the same reason why I don't understand some people's dislike of gay folks.  They've voluntarily taken themselves out of the gene pool.  If you don't like their way of life, take heart, there won't be any descendants to carry it on when they're dead.

I say let the fools abort their offspring and gas their old people.  The quicker they kill themselves off, the quicker civilization can become civilized again.

Is it offensive to point out that abortionists make a lot of money?  The later the abortion and more illegal the abortion, the more the abortionists charge.  The worst offenders make millions of dollars as is evident by the most recent case where a doctor in Pennsylvania was murdering children inside and outside the womb for a great deal of money.  The examples are countless.

A perfect storm: moral relativism + population implosion + government-run healthcare.   But there is one segment of the British public that is reproducing rapidly and not having abortions -- muslims.

Correction:

The quicker they kill themselves off, the quicker we will be able to defend ourselves from the Muslim onslaught.

I just hope they gank themselves faster than the Muslims gain ground, or we are all hosed.
