Bound to Happen Sooner or Later, I Guess

My 100-year-old grandmother has blocked me on Facebook. My brother broke the news to me. "I'm sorry, Claire, but you just post too much," he explained.
On to more important news, the Wall Street Journal is running a fascinating symposium called "What is Moderate Islam" with contributions from Anwar Ibrahim, Bernard Lewis, Ed Husain, Reuel Marc Gerecht, Tawfik Hamid and Akbar Ahmed. All make worthwhile points.

If I'm not mistaken, the privacy features allow you to block only updates from a certain user, not their entire accounts, though we can forgive your grandmother for not being versed on the intricacies of Facebook privacy controls.
On the more important piece, Anwar Ibrahim is a hero for his support of democracy in Malaysia in the face of claims of sodomy and imprisonment. He is a fine example and a potential international face and leader of moderate Muslims, not to mention the "Prime Minister in Waiting" of Malaysia. Americans who want to support moderate Islam would do well to learn about and speak up for his bid to end the "soft" authoritarian rule of UMNO, the traditional majority party in Malaysian politics and the party that threw him in prison for six years on phony charges of homosexuality, and is playing the same trick again with a new sodomy trial that is playing out in Malaysian courts now. He is exactly the kind of leader the US needs in the fast developing Southeast Asian region, not only for his moderate Islam, but for his bold and unflinching support of democracy and the freedom of his people.

Thanks, Humza. We need more good information of this type here to get past the "bomb all Muslims into the stone age, they are all Wahhabi" mindset.
