Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) quoted yesterday by the Miami Herald in response to the President's lack of concern over sky-high unemployment figures, which disproportionately affect the African American community:

"If (former President) Bill Clinton had been in the White House and had failed to address this problem, we probably would be marching on the White House," Cleaver said. "There is a less-volatile reaction in the CBC because nobody wants to do anything that would empower the people who hate the president."

Emmanuel Cleaver should know all about "less volatile"; wasn't he the one that claimed John Lewis was spat upon and that he heard the n-word being hurled about by the Tea Partiers, back during the ObamaCare debate?

Breitbart has $100,000 riding on somebody providing proof of Cleaver avoiding volatile.

The divisions have become blatant and racist to no end. Unforgiveable.

Those horrible racists!  How dare they deny the President the thrill of being protested against just because he is 1/2 Black!!  I can't believe the nerve ;-)

So, out of fear of doing "anything that would empower the people who hate the president", rep. Cleaver and his fellow CBC members would rather remain silent regarding the black unemployment that has increased under this administration. That's some real leadership you've got going there, Emanuel.

"Conscious of the Congress." What a crock.

Cleaver's probably right, but I think his rationale is a crock.

First, Clinton was in office in the 90's. There was a million-whatever march of whining morons spearheaded and organized by professional grievance mongers roughly every other week.

Second, the optics really aren't so good for the CBC if the man ain't The Man. I think Cleaver is a great deal more concerned about Cleaver than Obama.

Of course, Mr. Cleaver, in his usual fashion, has refused to discuss his comments on local Kansas City radio. He throws it out there and then never stands behind it. Since Mr. Cleaver will be affected by the new Census data, his new district will include some new territory that will not be as enamored of his comments as they have in the past. He will face a challenge in 2012.

...and so it comes full circle. Those who have the arrogance and audacity to wrap themselves in the civil rights mantle of those who came before have become what they beheld.

This is the new racism, these are today's racists. The former party of the Ku Klux Klan is returning to its' roots. The players in the band are different, but it is still the same old song.

Ironically, they wouldn't be considering marching at all if O wasn't in office.
