Yesterday, as I was writing about frustrated liberals who are losing hope in President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden was telling Democrats to quit whining (via Big Government). Speaking at a fundraiser in Manchester, NH, he implored around 200 Democratic activists and donors to remind

our base constituency to stop whining and get out there and look at the alternatives. This President has done an incredible job. He’s kept his promises.

He then acknowledged that if the midterm elections become a referendum on the "current state of affairs," the Democrats will lose:

If we make this a referendum on the current state of affairs, we lose, and so that’s why we’ve got to make this a choice.

Just last week, Obama censured what he called "griping and groaning Democrats," saying

Folks: wake up. This is not some academic exercise. As Joe Biden put it, Don’t compare us to the Almighty, compare us to the alternative.

So in the heat of election season, the Democrats are running on the negative platform that they are not Republicans?

You'll know it's all over when Obama accuses the liberal base of being regular consumers of Slurpees.

I'm sure all those on the left who are currently disillusioned with hope and change will take to heart the admonishment of the administration and repent of their whining ways to go and vote for more.

"Don't compare us to the Almighty."

I guess the moment when the seas stopped rising and the earth started cooling has come and gone. Sadly, we now find out that the president who but a few short months ago walked on water only did so because he couldn't swim.

I think we file this under the title, "be careful what you wish for. the Dems' "base constituency" got exactly the man they longed for and he gave them the pure liberal government they had advocated. Time to stop whining and either fight it out or face the failure.

I'll give Biden credit for open-eyed political realism,. Their performance is lousy and gives them nothing to run on. Experienced campaigners know that in this situation distraction and re-direction is their only hope. It's a weak hope but its all they have to work with.

The Democrats are running that they ain't Republicans?!

That's because the Republicans are Democrats with an (R) by their name.

Heck, even the incumbent Republicans are saying they aint' Republicans. Their challengers are saying they are new and improved Republicans.
