August DC Soirée Update

First Mollie declined. Then I figured it would be totally excellent if I got Barry to come. I know we all have lots we'd like to share with him. Barry has, sadly, declined, but you can still reserve a seat at this Wednesday's soirée, August 10th, at Kilroy's just west of 495 and Braddock Road. Just leave a note to reserve a seat.

I used to manage a shoe store next to Kilroy's back when it opened as "Uncle Sam's". They wanted to expand so they bought us out and paid for us to move two doors down. I live in the Cleveland area now, and this is the first time I really miss Northern VA.

It's funny to see all the comments from folks that can't make it. Getting together in DC can be like the debt negotiations! I told my girlfriend about it, and she said, "I want to go, is Peter Robinson going to be there?". She was much less thrilled when I told her it would just be a few members... I just don't have the pull I did in the past! If alternate dates or locations are better for others, maybe we should hear about it?

I haven't yet secured a babysitter; midweek is tough. I will try hard to make it on Wednesday but would also be open to an alternative date....

The midweek worked in July, but we are seeing some problems with it in August. I am loath to try to move the date only two days before the event, so let's go ahead with the 10th even though it may mean fewer people and apply the lesson learned to the Fall event to make sure everyone gets a chance to meet Mollie.
Last time we had a dozen folks and I personally found the three hours totally insufficient.
The venue is a family establishment and very flexible. If you find yourself able to come at the last minute, no sweat, we will just add a table or two.
I will be in a Hawaiian shirt wearing a blue "No Sympathy for Self-Inflicted Wounds" button.

And just so you know, they have a fabulous Dairy Queen just a few doors down from Kilroys. It's what kept our brood from unleashing their naughtiness on the Ricochet crowd last July - the promise of ice cream if they were good.

Ryan, Peter nor any of the other Ricochet contributors were there in July, but we had so much fun anyway. Keep in mind I had brought 3 feral boys with me. Yet, we still enjoyed ourselves.
