August DC Soirée Update

First Mollie declined. Then I figured it would be totally excellent if I got Barry to come. I know we all have lots we'd like to share with him. Barry has, sadly, declined, but you can still reserve a seat at this Wednesday's soirée, August 10th, at Kilroy's just west of 495 and Braddock Road. Just leave a note to reserve a seat.

We'll run from 7-10 PM in the restaurant. Those that just can't get enough Ricochet are welcome to caucus in the bar afterwards. The restaurant is family-friendly with a wide range of fare and adult beverages from the bar. If you have never been to Kilroy's. it is a 30-year institution whose walls have accumulated posters and magazine covers from two world wars. The vestibule includes a 9/11 memorial that would be at home in any Smithsonian.

Ah... Good old Kilroy's at Ravensworth Shopping Center! As a youngster I would ride my bike from Burke, around Lake Accotink, through King's Park to Ravensworth and back home. It was my after school ride.
Count me in! What's the head count?

At this point the head count is four, so if you want to propose another date we can probably accommodate. We originally set the 10th to make sure flownover could join us, but flownover's DC trip has been postponed now until October.

Sweet! I'm so glad I saw this. If I can nab a babysitter, I'll be there. Sadly my firefighter husband will be on duty that night. He loves Kilroy's: They have quite a following among the cops and fire laddies.
Ryan, it's my old stomping grounds, too, relatively speaking: We lived in West Springfield, nearly in Burke. Good times!

Hey, Diane? Since we haven't made progress on a calendar, is there any way to "pin" this near the top of the member feed or something? I missed the first thread about this meetup and might easily have missed this, too. We have several DC/VA/MD members, and it'd be a shame for them to miss out just because they happened to pop in three hours from now....

Mr Obama is as far as I am willing to go. As he is not attending, I would be tempted to attend, but I am nowhere near DC.

I am 90minutes and 150years south in Richmond. I am doubtful that I can run up 95 but will see. We usually put the little boys to bed early enough that bringing them along will be difficult but might be possible.

The August soirée seems the best for the kids, get it in while school is out of session. Of course, Mollie says she'll make one of these in the fall.
Either way, I'll trade you. Come up for a DC soirée and I'll come down for a Richmond soirée. That might draw from the Norfolk area as well.

Would love to get a social calendar feature set up for Members soon, but...until we can pry BSA away from his current tasks, what I recommend is for the organizer of the meetup to post at least 3 reminders. I'll move the final reminder over to the Main Feed the week of the event.

Darn! That day I'll be in the air, on my way to Alaska--home. And I'm not going to take Andrea's triple dog dare, as much as I'd like to.
Any chance for something in the northern midwest around the end of the month? My house?

Well, rats. I was so psyched to actually, you know, come on time to this one, but an out-of-town family emergency will be tying me up for the next couple of weeks. All the best to the DC Rico peeps--I shall look forward to the fall get-together, perhaps with some Hemingways in attendance.
