I wonder, EJ... what made you choose a snake?... The Gadsden flag? (It's hard for me not to be curious about a fellow serpent.)
-- And who did the drawing? Is it yours?

Re: Attention Dr. Lileks, Your Comic Section is Ready
Years and years and years ago I thought I was going to be a cartoonist. Life intervened and I ended up in TV. These characters that I draw have a 35+ year history together, at least among friends and family.
Lileks inspired a series of gags in my mind when I listened to the podcast last night. The fist two are already on paper and if there's a positive response I may keep it up. Otherwise, we might prove all those feature editors were right for rejecting me all those many years ago!

Aww... Well I think they're cute, too (especially the snake).
How do you render them in the computer? Do you scan in pencil sketches, then edit from there, or do you draw them entirely by computer? And if so, how do you manage that -- a stylus and tablet? (And if so, what brand, etc...?)

Sharpie on paper and straight to the scanner, colorized and typed in PhotoShop 7.

Wow, remarkably similar to what I've done the rare times I've made a cartoon. But I have no practiced characters as you do, just individual pieces, most of which could not possibly interest outsiders.
Sharpies rock!

I always assumed I was too stupid to get the jokes in Pepper... And Salt.

Why does the snake look like a cross between a green bean and Woodstock?

Always want to see more of your work, EJ. Looks like Midget is already a fangurl but you are going to need a cat to keep PseudoD happy. (If you run out of comic dialogue, you can just post the cartoons and run a caption contest)

Haven't we all? To quote the late Lewis Grizzard, "Elvis is dead and I don't feel too good myself!"

Eds? Logo? Blue Yeti? He gets the job, right?
Re: Attention Dr. Lileks, Your Comic Section is Ready
And not to brag or anything, but we have an illustrator in the house, too. Only ten, but still.

With that talent, you can have her illustrate your next Gallery Of Regrettable Foods - Illustrated snark, made to order. No more scanning old cook books or food ads. What will you do with all that new found time?
