Uncommon Texas

As discussed in another thread, Uncommon Knowledge with Peter Robinson  is coming to Austin on Wednesday, June 13th for two special shows to be recorded at an event sponsored by the Texas Public Policy Institute. The first show will be the previously mentioned interview with Governor Rick Perry. The second show will be a talk by our own Peter Robinson to mark the 25th anniversary of  Ronald Reagan's "Tear Down This Wall" speech. It promises to be a unique and entertaining afternoon.

While the TPPI event (at the Stephen F. Austin Intercontinental Hotel at 11 AM) is already sold out, Ricochet has obtained 5 tickets to give away to our members. The first 5 Ricochet members to comment on this post get them (sorry, only one ticket per member). Can't comment because you're not a member? Saddle up, pardner' and join today!

We're also planning to hold an informal Ricochet Meet-Up with Peter in attendance the evening of June 12th. We'll have more info about that later this week. If you're in the Austin area, we sure hope you'll join us.

Thanks to Hopalong EJHill for the photo.

I am a huge fan of TPPI, and would love to join the event.  And I will absolutely drive to Austin to go.

Peter:  I know you've lived in NY, NH, and CA. You've obviously not lived in Texas. The way you wear the hat, even after E.J.'s magic, screams "drugstore cowboy" from sea to shining sea.

On the other hand, you are more convincing than Gorbachev.

I'm too far away to attend, so please give my ticket to another commenter.

EJ was kind enough to put it on backwards for him.

And I don't need a ticket, I just needed to comment on the hat.

It's great to be one of the first 5 commenters - too bad I can't make it to Texas....

"Very unique."

Ahem.

This is worth it for the photo alone. Peter, I will do you the favor of forwarding to Dartmouth, so it can replace the other one as your official Board photograph.

I'll tell one Mr. Charles Daniels of Leland, NC to put away his country fiddle 'cause he has a case of bad hat.

I'm tempted to make a crack about "all hat and no cattle," but that wouldn't be fair.

Resisting...

As far as I can tell, at this juncture we have two tickets claimed (Dutch Tex and Jimmy Carter) and 3 remaining. Step on up, folks!

When I'm in Texas, I plan to pick up a pair of boots to go with the hat.  Can't wait to tromp across the Green in Hanover dressed like that.

Why is Peter wearing Don Imus' hat?

Don Imus isn't a pimple on a Texan's bottom... or, maybe he is. I'll have to think about that.

But in any case, the hat is independent of the state.

And, not that there's much chance of any ticket left, but if there is...

Jerry, you get the last ticket.

Folks, no more calls, we have a winner. I'll be in touch with the winners to get you the info on how to get your tickets.

Thanks for playing!
