The question Rob Long posted in his post a short way down the spindle -- which is why atheists with children are so much more likely to go to church than atheists without children -- needs a better answer than the one I suggested in my comment on his post . . . and I found it.

Here is Steve Martin with the atheist hymnal -- for those of you who do not believe:

That is SO perfect!  I am a Jew who loves, and plays Christmas music. I also joined to follow Dr. Rahe (hubby and I are great supporters of Hillsdale).  A blessed Christmas from RushBabe49 and husband.

P.S.  Steve Martin is a wonderful banjo player, and his song "Daddy Played the Banjo" always brings tears to my eyes.

It was mentioned this morning in a homily by our pastor at St. Anthony's Church in Hillsdale; and, after re-reading Rob Long's piece, I googled "Steve Martin atheist songs."

Classic line:  "he is always lower case."

Steve Martin is still one of the funniest guys around.

In fact, I'll go further than that and say that I really love older very religious Xmas music.

I love Perry Como doing still like O Come All Ye Faithful.

Funny and sweet, not mean-spirited.

Steve's backing band is the Steep Canyon Rangers. Great current bluegrass group.

Me and Paul Revere, one of SM & SCR better songs. (Historically acurate as far as I can tell as well.)

Merry Christmas.

Just played this for my 12 year old son...He laughed and then said--guess they can't play that song in a lot of places besides America...then we went on to make jokes about Muslim versions.

Dr. Rahe, thanks for giving me a parenting moment where I feel like I'm doing something right!
