Seriously? You expect me to know what's happening in the world with a two-year-old in the house?

Leo has excellent opinions about politics, though. And trains. I asked my brother if it was okay to post my interview with him on Ricochet. "Sure," he said.

"But don't you worry about putting photos of your kid on the Internet?" I asked.

"Claire," he said. "We are moving to Daloa. They want him, they can come find us."

Good point.

That's the best you'll get out of this family for now.

As someone who has had my share of two year olds in the house, I would argue that it is entirely possible to know what is going on in the rest of the world. The question I would raise is, is it possible to really care what is going on in the rest of the world in the face of such indescribable and ephemeral beauty?

Talking politics with a two-year-old borders on child abuse. Not over the line, but close. It's bad enough that adults have to think about it. And, now I want to know what happened to my electric train. I loved that train.....

"Uh-oh" is right!

Certainly wasn't when my little one was two. Toddlers, I suspect, are put on earth to keep the grownups around them sane.

Appreciation for private property?  Check.  No doubt an equal reverence for other unalienable rights. A preference for the practical over the theoretical, and a healthy skepticism about politics in general.  Leo is quite the American patriot.

Ok now, you were two in 1970, between presidential elections, so what did you talk about the midterms ? Vietnam ? Beatles breakup ? Nasser's death ?

One can only imagine...

Claire, Leo shows signs of having all the qualities of a good Republican Presidential Candidate.  Tacitern and single minded he stays on message.  The message is his trains and expanding the United States Industrial Base.  He does not allow the cynical press to lure him into making negative comments about his Republican opponent & rival for the Presidency, in this case Aunt Claire.  Leo is all business and the electorate will respect him for it.

One wonders, then, about his position on public funding for Light Rail systems.

He's obviously into Ayn Rand. You can guess His position on public funding for anything.

Absolutely not!  He believes a man should own his own railroad and keep the Government out of it.  Andrew Carnegie started in the railroad business first before he branched out into steel.  He innovated a policy on the Pennsylvania Railroad that if a locamotive broke down and couldn't be repaired quickly that it was better to "knock it off the tracks and sell it for scrap" then allow it to cost the railroad millions when trains behind it would be stalled.  Obviously, this would be a good analogy to Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats.  They are useless and clogging the track.  In 2012 we should "knock them off the tracks and sell them for scrap".

I am quite sure this is what Leo had in mind.  He seems ready to take action.  I am glad to be associated with his point of view.

  1. I seriously doubt they'd fetch much of anything on the secondary market.
  2. I'm pretty sure that at this point the only way they could be removed is by a direct nuclear strike.
