Are You Smarter Than A Magazine That's Smarter Than the Wall Street Occupiers?

Finding out that the Wall Street Occupiers are, in fact, this stupid wouldn't really surprise me, but neither would it surprise me if no one at New York magazine has a solid grasp on the potential for sampling and non-sampling errors in polling. So treat this as "for amusement value and confirmation of your prejudices" only.

There's a difference between stupid and ill-informed.
The question that especially interested me was on comparative expenditures for military and pension/healthcare. That's not just ill-formed, that's seriously misinformed.

If you are stupid, thank a teacher.

They're not clever enough to come in out of the rain (and snow) so what should we expect. I'm more surprised that they haven't found anything better to do with their time after this long. That fact makes me angry with those who support these folks with donations of time and cash. I'm pretty sure that, left to their own devices, the OWS'ers would have long ago left Zucotti park and started to look for work.

I think it is pretty funny that apparently about 10% of the occupiers thought Elizabeth Warren was Warren Buffet's wife.

I'm certain the average Ricocheteer would score much higher than the average Occupier (I missed one), but I think the difference between us and them is not so much differences in knowledge so much as a difference in attitude: we don't jump back in horror at the concept of "self-reliance." Occupiers want to be net takers--they not only want a safety net, they want to use it--TODAY and FOREVER.

Totally agree. I think a good synonym for "seriously misinformed" would be "perversely impervious to facts."

Maybe. Probably. But I also think there's a huge propagandistic element here. I mean, these people are being lied to and manipulated.
It's the Alinsky way.
