Well, Claire, it's football season. I can read transcripts of debates. I can only cheer on my team in person.

In other words, no, I'll catch the debate tomorrow.

I saw a t-shirt today: There's no snooze button on a cat that wants breakfast.

Claire Berlinski, Ed.

But this is about foreign policy! This is really important! Someone, keep me company!

I'm watching...they're all doing remarkably well.

Interestingly, Bachmann sounds very good.  Doesn't change my mind, but she is doing well.

I don't know if it's my TV or his clothes, but it looks like Huntsman is wearing a puce suit with a fuchsia tie.

Also, the moderators have been playing it straight.

OK, except for Scott Pelley's outburst there.

Started to watch, but really can't stand any more. More heat than light. I am 'sound-bit' (the media equivalent of 'snake-bit'). Whatever the foreign policy of a candidate it will be neither decided not articulated in a 30 or 60 second sound bite. Persuasion of the citizenry as to soundness of major policy choices takes days, weeks, months, not seconds minutes, hours. I will vote for ideology = a coherent set of guiding principles, and trust in character of a fellow (fallen) creature, as best I can. These 'debates' won't persuade me.

Are there two more obnoxious twits on this planet than Scott Pelley and Major Garrett?

Decent debate. I thought Perry's quip about remembering the DOE was really good.

My favorite part of the debate was when Pelley thought he was smarter than Newt on the rule of law question relative to killing unlawful combatants. Pelley, of course, wasn't smarter than Newt and Newt clearly adores making media people look silly. He's masterful at that. Mitt did fine. Perry did well. Cain was mostly clueless and clearly out of his element. Everyone else remains decorative.

Nope - but I did see Newt spanking Pelley - outstanding - I am beginning to warm to Newt and am going off Mr Cain - not because of the "sexual harrassment" but more for his cluelessness.

Claire:  Anyone else watching the CBS GOP debate?

Me:  Nah.  I've opted for a stick in the eye.  Less painful.

What is this "CBS" you speak of?

I think I've gotten off the Cain train. I just watched all the Newt highlights ans I'm firmly back in his camp, where I first started. Loved his responses on Iran and Afghanistan and Egypt. Mr. cain's recent quip that knowing a Uzbeki president's name wont "create a single job" was amateurish and he forgets that commander in chief is above all his responsibility.

I'm up for Newt for President, Cain for VP.

For those who missed it, the full debate is here.

To see Gingrich school Pelley that "the rule of law" does not always mean a matter is governed by civilian, criminal law, here's the clip.
