I'm embarrassed that people like this make such speeches on the Floor of Our House of Representatives.

Someone had to replace Alan Grayson as the shallowest and worst representative. I guess Weiner drew the short straw.

Yeah...ok.

I'm guilty as well. My state brings you John McCain.

While I believe we have a net trade surplus of pomposity, can't this behavior be found worldwide. Which country, with elected representatives, demonstrates better legislation?

Diane, I think calling that rant 'hysterics' is too generous for the Representative from Queens.

It's funny how he used sarcasm to say that the Republicans should be spending more time talking about how to help fix the economy, secure nuclear sites and other things, but then he spent his two and a half minutes in some gag about Car Talk. I guess HIS two and a half minutes really wouldn't be better spent talking about the economy or nuclear safety.

Polemic is not persuasion; diatribe is not debate. Rep. Weiner is wasting the Congress' time.

I think hysteria is one of Weiner's two reflexive and natural behavioral states. The other is how he behaves when he gets whatever he wants.

Rep. Weiner clearly has tiger's blood, is a Vatican Assassin, and is winning.

It's actually funny, but it doesn't make the case for why the U.S. taxpayer needs to foot the bill for these programs, nor why they cannot stand on their own.

Since the Democrats don't have a real argument, they resort to comedy and sarcasm.  Reminds me of when Stephen Colbert went to Congress to testify about how hard life was for the migrant farm workers.  Which never addressed the real issue of illegal immigration.  If he really cares about farm workers he should be against importing more of them, which drives down the cost of their labor to what he would consider inhumane levels, and makes them more susceptible to oppression and exploitation.

What did it cost little tony weiner to print that poster and who paid for it? How much of his own money (not ours) does he donate to NPR? How about this? We keep the funding for NPR and they turn over all of their gross income. After that, the U.S. Government will control all content and salaries. Who votes for this guy?

1. Contract with America was in 1994 so I don't know if he's been through some kind of a time-warp and he's recovering or he just misspoke.

2. He's like the Stephen Colbert of Congress, but not as funny, and more irritating.

3. If only his first two names were Oscar Meyer. There's just so much fodder for satire with that name.

Either way you pronounce his name it's accurate.  He has an amazing ability to speak through his nose.

There's plenty of meaty content on NPR & PBS.  However, just as one enjoys essays (or podcasts) by certain writers, and then chooses to subscribe to magazines that publish them, if those that thirst for Click & Clack, On the Media, This American Life, and Prairie Home Companion can't donate to keep them going, that would be their doing.  Hasn't the CPB already sighed that they have appealed to a white, well-educated, affluent demographic?  Aren't these people who could donate, if it were important enough to them?  Why are the tax dollars of fellow citizens who have no interest in these shows funding them, NEA and NEH, for that matter, with all their quite well-compensated staffs, when they have no relevance to any necessary function of government that does concern them?  Like national defense, or border control?  I give where I think my money best serves me and my interests, whether church or charity.  I buy books, music, and patronize shops and restaurants who provide me what I find necessary or enjoyable, or both, to my life.  Why do liberals claim moral high ground for making me fund their pleasures and necessities?

So on one hand, liberals argue that the percentage of funding from the government is to small to bother cutting, but on the other hand, now that funding has been cut (or at least the bill has passed), shows like Click and Clack will go silent forever.

[Yawn]

Another day, another example that Democrats simply can't keep a consistent storyline.

Why? Do you live in his district? Did you vote for him? If you never voted for him, why should you be embarrassed?

I see a conflict of interest here. Weiner was formerly a junior partner at Car Talk's own legal team, Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe.
