Another Ricochet Live Event: Oscar Night

If you loved election night, if you swooned over the SOTU speech, then we have a treat for you this Sunday at 8PM ET/5PM PT/6AM Istanbul time: it's our First Annual Oscar Night Live Chat.
Please join a bevy of Ricochet contributors (and some special guests!) as we walk the red carpet, open the envelope, and make fun of the losers, all in real time. Should be a lot of fun, and best of all; no black tie required.

Would it be possible to have two simultaneous live chats? One for the contributors and one for the members? It seemed that a lot of people had quite a time trying to get a post in during the main chat due to the filtering. Maybe it would be better to separate the kids from the grown-ups.

Thanks for asking, fullfrontal. That's exactly what CoverItLive does. There is an area for contributors and one for members. We moderate the member chat and promote some of the comments made there into the contributor chat. But it is indeed two separate chats.
Some people want one big chat with everyone in the same room. We have considered doing that, but it in our experience it tends to get very unruly and difficult to follow very quickly. CoverItLive isn't perfect, but it does have a number of features we like (including support for a host of mobile devices) and plays nice with our site.

I'll pay another $3.47 for the MysertyScienceTheater production version. These chats, while fun live, suffer much waste. A single word or visual will generate 10 great posts but the attempt to filter in real time makes it impossible to show all the posts before the next comment worthy event.
The SOTU chat was fun but not worth the price of actually having to watch it live.

Where is Mike Nelson, anyway? Heck, he had Lileks on Rifftrax at least once.
I don't care what anyone says, I'm wearing black tie. Hope The King's Speech wins because I heard it was good. Has anyone heard about other nominees that reportedly are good?
