Andy McCarthy's Broadside and the New Ricochet Book Club
I read the book and I'm really dying to have a good conversation about it--not a debate, just an exchange of ideas. I understand that it's not available on Kindle until tomorrow. Would anyone like to join me in reading it and talking about it? Andy McCarthy, would you join us if we did? Would other members of Team B II consider joining the conversation? There really couldn't be a more critical issue to discuss, could there? I'll wait until Friday to post about this if there's interest. Maybe we could even do it via live chat? What do you think?
The book's really got my mind racing.

Is the book The Grand Jihad?

I'm up for it. Don't know about being able to support a live chat, though. My work schedule is ramping up.
Re: Andy McCarthy's Broadside and the New Ricochet Book Club
It's a great book.
Re: Andy McCarthy's Broadside and the New Ricochet Book Club
I just checked with my good buddy, Andy (didn't want to presume to speak for him without authority) and he confirmed my guess -- that he would be happy to engage in a Ricochet conversation about his grand book.

Yes, I would love to discuss this at length. Not sure about participating in a live chat during a work day.

I'm definitely going to read the book, but it doesn't come out for Nook until tomorrow, as with the Kindle. I think a chat on the book would be fun, and I'd be game for live chat (I assume you mean over Skype?) depending of course on the time and date.

I like the idea. I'm pre-ordering it now. You know, when I read the title I thought it might be a good idea to have a part of the website dedicated to books. Is it possible to do something like that?

Another great idea, Claire. I just downloaded Kindle for PC app from Amazon (I don't own a Kindle or an iGizmo yet ) to be able to purchase when released tomorrow

Hey Ken, have you been experiencing troubles with opening books and documents on your Nook? Mine has been acting up today and I didn't know if I was the only one.

In that case, I'd love to read the book. It's not often you get to discuss a book with an author.
Re: Andy McCarthy's Broadside and the New Ricochet Book Club
Despite my inherent skepticism at the idea that President Obama is allied with Islamist radicals in a Grand Jihad against America -- because, c'mon, really? -- I tried to read the first chapter with an open mind.
I found it wanting.

We'll get Andy a login ID and try to set it up for, say, a week from now? To give everybody a chance to read the book?

Do you have any substantive disagreements with the theme of the book? Your article seems to be more of a fact-check than a rebuttal to his main argument. What do you think is his main point and why do you reject it?
And, it seems like there's some confusion but I believe the book in question is the Encounter Broadside, not Grand Jihad, am I right?
Re: Andy McCarthy's Broadside and the New Ricochet Book Club
Ah, I think you're right, Bereket Kelile – a previous commenter made me think Grand Jihad was under discussion, but it looks as though Claire actually is suggesting we discuss this.
I'll refrain from getting into Grand Jihad -- I don't want to hijack the thread, and I have no idea whether I agree or disagree with the pamphlet under discussion. Sorry for adding to he confusion.

Claire, I thought the book you were suggesting we read and discuss is "How Obama Embraces Islam's Sharia Agenda". I think I can either book, but let me know which.

Actually it's the new Broadside that McCarthy wrote that will come out tomorrow, in ebook that is. I believe it's here.

I don't use the device itself, I use the Nook reader on my laptop and on my iPhone. I asked for the Nook for Christmas and my wife said "Why do you want that?" and then she said we are buying each other a mantle piece for the fireplace.

That's funny that you guys are "buying each other" that. I just got off the phone with tech support and it's all straightened out now. The train keeps on achugging.
