The Daily Caller has just posted a story about bribe-taking at the Justice Department:

A U.S. Justice Department source has told The Daily Caller that at least two DOJ prosecutors accepted cash bribes from allegedly corrupt finance executives who were indicted under court seal within the past 13 months, but never arrested or prosecuted.

The sitting governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands, his attorney general and an unspecified number of Virgin Islands legislators also accepted bribes, the source said, adding that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is aware prosecutors and elected officials were bribed and otherwise compromised, but has not held anyone accountable.

The bribed officials, an attorney with knowledge of the investigation told TheDC, remain on the taxpayers’ payroll at the Justice Department without any accountability. The DOJ source said Holder does not want to admit public officials accepted bribes while under his leadership.

That source said that until the summer of 2011, the two compromised prosecutors were part of a team of more than 25 federal prosecutors pursuing a financial crime ring, and at least five other prosecutors tasked to the case were also compromised by the criminal suspects they were investigating, without being bribed.

In a normal world this would be a massive scandal that would bring an administration down.

If true the question is why the cover up. Bribed officials are no surprise but a corrupt AG and Obama's firewall is quite a prize.

I'm shocked!  Shocked that the numbers are only two bribed and five 'compromised'.  I'd be interested to know what 'compromised' means in this context.  Working for Holder is probably compromised enough.

Another reason to get a High ranking Govenment job. The problem is learning to sleep at night. This will be spun as crime reduction donations that the DOJ needs and Congress will not fund. Have faith.

If the President were Republican every resource the MSM could muster would be in play trying to connect him to the scandal. As it is, the narrative will continue to be, "Move along. Nothing to see here."

If Eric Holder is retaining personnel at Justice when he has compelling evidence that they are corrupt, then he is corrupt. Congress needs to get serious about cracking Justice wide open or tell us why they think this is not a problem.

Whatever happens, this man needs to be out of that office by January 2013.  The abrogation of responsibility and integrity on his part is shameful.

This isn't the way you do it.  Obama needed to spend more time in Chicago, apparently.

One isn't supposed to take bribes, for crying out loud!  One is supposed to secure no-show jobs for the siblings of one's wife.  If the influence seeker isn't big enough to swing no-show jobs, then there's no deal.

Rank amateurs.

We are seeing in DC what John Kass calls "the Chicago way." If these charges are true, they should finish Holder. My bet is that Valerie Jarrett and Michele Obama are admirers of the man. Either that or Barack Obama cannot bring himself to fire anyone.

Amazing isn't how you could pretty much put the former in any thread on this Administration.

Very true. The whoops was an Eric Voegelin quotation for Troy's thread, but I hear you.
