An Amusing Observation About The Left
After any act of terrorism, you can always count on leftists to find some way to blame America. You can regularly hear cries of 'well, if we hadn't have done X, then this wouldn't have happened!' or 'what they did isn't NEARLY as bad as X act, which we've been doing to them for years!' Fast forward to the 'Occupy' protests happening all over the country. Protesters are manufacturing incidents, taunting police, and desperately doing whatever it takes to arrested. As soon as the police respond (by doing their jobs), the protesters immediately post videos to YouTube with cries of 'police brutality!' and 'we live in a police state!' No thought as to whether what they were doing caused the police to react. No self-reflection. No clue

That's because, for the people that designed these protests, it's not political protest--it's political theater. I'm sure Obama would like to play the deus ex machina, if he gets the part.

Re: An Amusing Observation About The Left
Self-awareness isn't something that the Left does very well. For instance, the yahoos running this current nonsense obviously have no memory of the last couple of times the extreme rioting Left actually managed to affect a national election--1968 and 1972. Their problem, of course, what their real accomplishment was revolting most of the electorate and driving large majorities to vote for the GOP (and, ironically, the most liberal president between Johnson and Obama, but that's beside the point). Whether the modern sandalistas are too dumb, too ignorant or just too conceited to realize it, they're doing exactly the same thing today.

Re: An Amusing Observation About The Left
I worry that Obama will follow the Nixon model, the winning model. I think he's politically smart enough not to follow the losing strategies of '68 and '72. He may cast himself as the "law and order" candidate, just as Nixon did.

That's pretty hard to imagine. The elected Dems and their media pals are all-in with the morons so far.
The "occupy" nonsense is straight out of the "community organizer" (aka, 'somebody who, in lieu of getting a real job, pesters the government for other people's money') handbook, which makes it hard for Obama to credibly portray himself in serious opposition to it. Which isn't to say the supine media wouldn't cover for him anyway, of course.

Re: An Amusing Observation About The Left
There was a video posted a few days ago on the Corner of a young "protester" taunting an old Jewish man. Sickening at first glance, but then you realize the protester is putting on a show. Via that video, I found a guy who has been filming the denizens of Union Square for almost 10 years. It's fascinating, well done. I have spent all my web time over the last 2 days watching his videos.
My point is, that kid is not a principled protester. He is a street person. One step above homeless, he hangs out in parks all day and night, takes all kinds of drugs, and occasionally finds a place to flop. A lot of the other Union Square regulars have migrated to Wall Street for the free food and all the interesting stuff going on. These guys are all about the "scene".
Put this crowd together with college kids (also motivated by a desire to be part of the "scene"), aging hippies, and paid astroturfers, and you got yourself a movement.

An Amusing Observation About The Left
Accurate and astute, certainly. Appreciated as well. Amusing, not so much...

Re: An Amusing Observation About The Left
They know exactly what they are doing. They know exactly that they are "forcing" the police to act. They are making sure that when a deliberate action causes a police response, there are at least 2 cameras to capture the event. They put the event on YouTube with misleading and false analysis of what is shown because they "hope" useful idiots will see and believe.
There is no need to reflect. It is their plan. They DO have a clue.

Re: An Amusing Observation About The Left
Yes, I agree it's not so amusing.
I'm old enough to remember the 60's, when the same tactics were used against the "pigs". You can see the "Palestinians" use it against the Israeli army, the Taleban use it against the US military, as they hide behind human shields at wedding parties. The Turkish flotilla incident. It's the weapon of choice in asymmetric warfare -- kinda predictable, actually.
As for Mr Obama, his useful idiots are doing his work for him, while he smiles and lectures us with his deep baritone voice (or his street voice, depending on the audience).
The question remains, are there enough useful idiots to get him re-elected? Or maybe there are enough people in the stupid party (naming no names) to do it for him, by not voting for Mr Romney?

Re: An Amusing Observation About The Left
Is this a coordinated strategy of theirs to refuse to answer simple questions? (for fear of sounding stupid)

Re: An Amusing Observation About The Left
Nice observation.
Hypocrisy and projection are essential parts of the Liberal Fascist/Democrat true believer psychology. And I mean essential. I don't think you can be a LF if you don't have that neurotic compulsion for moral rent-seeking. A dreamy repealer of Original Sin, maybe. A fuzzy-minded One-Worlder, perhaps. But not a Liberal Fascist.
As a consequence, if you want to know what the LFs are doing, look at what they are accusing you of doing. An example ready to hand on Ricochet: 20 congerspersons practically demand Clarence Thomas's impeachment because of minor errors in his disclosure forms. Turns out 75% of them have similar errors.
Or this headline from Big Journalism: Halliburton Crony Capitalism Is Bad, But Solyndra Crony Capitalism Is Okay

Dead on, Pilli. It's not ignorance, it's strategy. It's working, too. The protest was mostly ignored in the press until they got the dramatic video of the protestors getting pepper-sprayed (and two cops as well, not that anyone cares about them).
