Yesterday, Professor Obama taught us that people "came in[to]" America because, "you know, the folks over on the other side of the Atlantic had been pressing folks without giving them representation."

Ready for your second American History lesson with the professor?

Long before America was even an idea, this land of plenty was home to many peoples. The British and French, the Dutch and Spanish, to Mexicans, to countless Indian tribes. We all shared the same land.

Mexico declared its independence on September 16, 1810. It was recognized on September 27, 1821.

The United States of America declared its independence in 1776.

Oh, Diane...you and your "facts". You know that the President is speaking of higher truths that the mere "factual".

Personally, I like the assertion that "We all shared the same land." Oh really? It was one big happy love-fest in the new world?

I haven't fingers enough to count the wars and other serious conflicts of that period. Some of those "countless Indian tribes" were not into sharing with each other, let alone the Euro-newcomers.

I see three possibilities.

1) He meant Mexicans lived in present day America, before those territories were annexed.

2) By Mexicans, he meant mestizos.

or

3) He really is that ignorant about American history.

Maybe he was tossing a bone to us Texans.

I read somewhere that some European nations have expressed support for an international tax on banks. Taxation without representation isn't an impossibility.

No, Sir, we don't all share the same land.

I guess the insinuation is that because people were living in the SW of North America before 1776, it is unfair to regulate the flow of immigrants to the region in 2010. Logical connection needed.

I'm sure he just misspoke. After all, he loves the indigenous people of the Americas so much that he adopted their original immigration policies, and applied them to the entire US.

One way to transform America is to transform American history.

For me, the answer is quite simple. His historical frame of reference extends back no further than his own date of birth. Anything of importance to him happened after that date. Anything that came before is of negligible meaning so historical accuracy is unnecessary.

In which of our current "58" states did all these peoples share land?

But of course it was, there was no USA, consequently there was no capitalist aggression. Sans inauthentic, soul-crushing civilization, the noble savages frolicked in Eden. Along with the Mexicans, the Yugoslavs, Israelis, and Palestinians joined in anachronistic, genuine community.

If you listen to the whole clip, you can learn the Obama-approved version of the Declaration. Pretty glaring omission there. Intentional or teleprompter's mistake?

Now we all know the feeling of empathy of watching someone doing something really stupid. Anyone interested in a class action suit vs. Zinn/Chomsky Idiocy Complex ? Millions of potential claimants . Have heard that filing an individual suit based on schadenfreude impact dilution might be coming from LGF.

Millions, indeed. But we need a drop-dead, unassailable example to headline. Obama's busy; can we get Ward Churchill?

Ward (false last name-he's a Ute) real name is " two dogs ...." something like that anyway .. you need to refer to Deep Pockets theory. Ward's dough, if any, has t0 be tied up in hairsuits. or is that hairshirts…? real question is why we use 'a' instead of 'an' it is a vowel isn't it ? A urinal- A European ? OMXL !!

Robert P George, in the magazine, "New Things" (Aug/Sep 2010) notes that the an orgn called the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy, produced a pamphlet comprising the US Constitution, and 2 other founding texts, the Declaration of Independence and the Gettysburg Address, "made possible by the generosity of Laurence and Caroline Tribe." This society hosted a speech by Elena Kagan; and has on its board such luminaries as Mario Cuomo, Janet Reno, NYT Report Linda Greenhouse, etc etc. Totally a ruling class kind of group for sure.

Anyway, this Constitution Society version of the Gettysburg Address says, "... this nation shall have a new birth of freedom..." George shows that the omission of "under God" is just too convenient to be an error.
