Alternative Energy You Can Believe In

President Obama became animated last night in speaking about the moral imperative of pursuing alternative energy, freeing us from reliance on fossil fuels. Why then has he not already expanded the availability of carbon dioxide-free energy? The roughly $1 trillion spent so far by Obama on stimulus efforts would fully fund at least 100 dual-reactor nuclear power plants, doubling domestic nuclear capacity to 40 percent of total generation.

Funny how there is more resistance on the left to allowing us to develop domestic nuclear power than there is to actively preventing Iran from going nuclear.

Re: Alternative Energy You Can Believe In
Every time some one writes about alternative energy, I follow up with two formulae for measuring energy produced:
The first is E = mv2 (squared) where v has a maximum value of 80 to 90 miles per hour.
The second E = mc2 (squared) where c is a constant equal to 186,000 miles per second.
Question: Which is likely to be the energy generator of the future windmills or nuclear power?

Nuclear power isn't something this administration is going to push for at all. He has made it very clear that we cannot be seen as being better than any other nation, even at the cost of bettering ourselves. In a fair world, if everybody can't have it, no one should have it.
You find a way to power a toaster with nuclear energy and he'll find a way to undercut the process, eventually banning it.

Much better to rely on wind power. I find that when the wind speed dips below 12 mph, I lose my appetite for toast anyway.

Nuclear power will bring the USA closer to the French (80% approx of power) , Swedes , and other nations that Obama, and the Democrats so long to embrace....
But then, I live in Australia, where one of the first things our current leftist government did was to block sales of our Uranium yellowcake to a democracy (India); but approve a large increase in sales to China
Ah the Left is full of such lovable contradictions..
