Aging Abortionist Pool May Be Be Biggest Help To Pro-Life Cause.
There's a lot of noise about the new abortion laws in Mississippi and Knoxville, but what most interests me is the apparent problem of the aging abortionist pool. According to the Metro Pulse in Knoxville, it's the older doctors that are most willing to perform abortions. They claim it's because the young doctors haven't lived through a ban, so they don't know what the "back alley" system was like.
Whatever the case, this is good news for the pro-life movement. It has been said that the younger generation is more pro-life due to the fact that so many of them have pictures of themselves, and pretty good ones, in the womb...on their phones no less. It's going to be harder and harder to convince these kids that they were not persons on that picture day. As more of them become doctors, expect a real crisis in this profession. There's a lot of praying going on over this and it appears to be working.

Joe,
You mean the 10 doctors we'll all have to split between us when Obamacare is in full flower?

"I swear by Apollo the physician and Aesculapius, and Health, and All-heal, and all the gods and goddesses, that, according to my ability and judgment, I will keep this Oath and this stipulation -- to reckon him who taught me this Art equally dear to me as my parents, to share my substance with him, and relieve his necessities if required; to look upon his offspring in the same footing as my own brothers, and to teach them this art, if they shall wish to learn it, without fee or stipulation; and that by precept, lecture, and every other mode of instruction, I will impart a knowledge of the Art to my own sons, and those of my teachers, and to disciples bound by a stipulation and oath according to the law of medicine, but to none others. I will follow that system of regimen which, according to my ability and judgement, I consider for the benefit of my patients, and abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous...."

"I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel; and in like manner I will not give to a woman a pessary to produce abortion. With purity and with holiness I will pass my life and practice my Art. I will not cut persons labouring under the stone, but will leave this to be done by men who are practitioners of this work. Into whatever houses I enter, I will go into them for the benefit of the sick, and will abstain from every voluntary act of mischief and corruption; and, further, from the seduction of females or males, of freemen and slaves. Whatever, in connection with my professional service, or not in connection with it, I see or hear, in the life of men, which ought not to be spoken of abroad, I will not divulge, as reckoning that all such should be kept secret. While I continue to keep this Oath unviolated, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and the practice of the art, respected by all men, in all times. But should I trespass and violate this Oath, may the reverse be my lot."

That is the best news I've heard in a long while.

Interesting you brought this up. While attending Santa Clara University, I noticed most of my fellow students, no matter their political affiliation, were staunchly pro-life. Even my more Marxist classmates posted pro-life statuses on their facebook around the time of march for life. Those that weren't pro-life always wanted to change the subject and equivocated when put on the spot.
I can't say the same for some of my older professors. They never missed the opportunity to brag about how they disagree with the Church's stance on "reproductive rights."
Based on my observations, I have hope that legal abortion will fade with the older generation.

It seems miraculous, but I agree. It's possible that one day it will be looked upon the segregation, or even slavery, is today.

No, the Government will simply tell them that they will perform abortions. This, then may lead to some of the talented people no longer becoming doctors, replaced by the flunkies- but that is going to happen anyway owing to the pay decreases.

With the government in the process of re-designing health care, I would not be surprised if the whole dirty business were simply handed over to a class of paramedics created for the purpose, so institutionalized has it become. Abortion now serves primarily as a check upon an underclass brought into being by a welfare state that supplanted traditional relationships with state dependency. What's more, the same people who re-classified what had been a class of human beings are starting to do it again, to solve the problem of unfunded retirement and health-care entitlements. Already euthanasia is being sold as 'freedom' and 'mercy'. Later it will be sold as a social obligation. Then it will just be mandated. I wish I could share the other commenters' optimism. But I can't.

Yes.
Also these people love to play favorites. It may be that those are the only doctors making money in 10 years' time.
