Oh, how plucky! What exhilarating fun they must be having on their Mediterranean yacht-adventure!

A lone French yacht carrying activists hoping to run the Israeli blockade on Gaza was on Thursday blocked in Crete by the Greek coast guard when it stopped to refuel, an organiser said. ... More than 300 activists from 22 countries had signed up to participate in this year's flotilla, among them dozens of middle-aged and elderly Americans and Europeans.

Congratulations to the journalist who can confirm or deny the presence of the following amenities on this pleasure craft. Me, I'm just taking an educated guess:

  • En suite showers, Jacuzzi tubs, full bathrooms with heated tile floors
  • Tempur-Pedic® memory-foam mattresses
  • TVs with DVD players in each stateroom
  • Wine library (Safari Explorer )
  • Terry bathrobes, slippers
  • Alarm clocks, hair dryers
  • iPod docking stations
  • Book and DVD library
  • Board games
  • On-deck hot tub
  • Steam sauna
  • Exercise equipment
  • Kayaks, laser sailboats and water-skis
  • Inflatable skiffs
  • Full-beam swim step for easy loading into kayaks and skiffs
  • Rubber boots and rain gear
  • Insulated "Mustang suits" for skiff excursions
  • Snorkeling gear and wet suits
  • Hydrophones to listen to dolphins and other below-surface sounds
  • Underwater cameras that connect to big-screen TV in main salon
  • Open and easily accessible bow and deck space for fingertip closeness to wildlife

Book your reservation early for next year's Adventure-to-Gaza yacht, where promised highlights include the 2009 Le Lesc, an exquisite 2009 Château Clément Termes, a crate of 2008 Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine, and the not-to-be-missed 2008 Macon Fuissé ‘Bois de la Croix’ Domaine. Boats will set sail to a unique musical arrangement of the Hamas Charter as Lieder for the acoustic guitar, specially commissioned for the voyage.

Quail eggs stuffed with caviar, waygu beef, caprese crostini, and Dom Perignon.

No, wait, those are from Democratic Party fundraisers. Those hard working champions of the poor.

Maybe if the "activists" end up spending some time in Crete they will forget about going on to Gaza. I think this is all a plot by the Greek government to increase tourism revenues by waylaying travelers.

How about the stylish " discreetly packaged self defense packages (knives, iron pipe, and glocks) included in each stateroom- location to be announced after departure" ?

Complimentary kaffiyehs, pillowsheets embossed with the image of Arafat, a man in a green helmet at each table , Reuters photographers on board to provide those memories of your trip with pictures of you and Choose one: Carlos the Jackal, Hasan Nasrallah, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, and Yassir Arafat.

Post prandial entertainment includes Extreme Shuffleboard with Leon Klinghoffer replicas , Twister version of pick your school bus , Rachel Corrie versus Bob the Builder Lego games and Crusaders do Jenin.

Imbecile is a nice thing to say about these delusionals.

More offensive to me are to read and hear about former diplomats Samuel Hart and Ann Wright aiding the flotilla. I heard Ms. Wright interviewed on the BBC and her views are so far out of the reasonable (and non-racist) mainstream as to be frankly shocking. It leaves me wondering just how many other whack jobs like these two are still holding senior positions in the foreign service.

I was watching the Democracy Now channel last night as they did their inspirational take on the voyage and watching Ann Wright as she tried to conduct them, Medea Benjamin as she tried to play choirmaster, and Alice Walker as she tried to inspire. It was a hoot ! They looked like a tour group from the Berkeley Faculty AA . Ann Wright and Elizabeth Warren have a spooky "separated at birth" thing going on.

The State Department is full of these types, I imagine they just keep the desks and files the same, only changing the numbers on the speed dial from Arafat to Nasrallah as they are instructed by newer inhabitants of the Alger Hiss wing .

Not to say that these imbeciles should be imitated, but I am holding out hope that one day I'll see the headline "National Review Cruise JOINS Israeli blockade efforts."

Now that could produce a flotilla boarding I'd want to see.

I volunteer to conduct a visit and search on said adventure yacht.

It is for everybody's safety and to ensure no contraband is on board, of course.

I gather Ann Wright is rather infamous but that was my first exposure to her. Her military service appears commendable and I have no problem with her private whacked out views as a military commander. But to imagine that she held responsible positions in the State Department -- in a Republican administration no less -- is still shocking to me.

Cocktails hours on the lido deck reading aloud from the travelogues of Sidney and Beatrice Webb ... that and a shrimp buffet. Who could resist that? Actually, getting all the worst people together in one place out at sea is kinda ingenious. When does the predator drone launch? (How many generations of imbeciles did OWH Jr. say were enough?).

Claire, As posted elsewhere yesterday I've had an invigorating, often bruising,  time debating the issues, mostly on the Irish website Journal.ie, this country having contributed more than our fair share of activists to the "Flopilla" ( I made that last word up myself but anyone is welcome to use it). Anyway, I have no doubt that this has been a resounding defeat for the "high seas hooligans" (also my phrase) who now are leaving Athens with their inactivist tails between their legs and a big turn in public sentiment against them. And now we hear the UN Palmer Report on the Mavi Marmara is going to declare the Blockade legal, thereby undermining the putative raison d'etre of the Flopillistas. It does seem Israel will be criticised for excessive force but Turkey and the IHH (on this issue, I understand their different role on Syria) will also be criticised. All told, a better outcome than might have been expected. Credit the Israelis for a great defence, and not a drop of blood spilt.
