I wager Rob Long that Mitt Romney will win!

Dinner at the restaurant of the winners choosing.  Some place nice that doesn't serve moose.  French Laundry kinda place!

What do you say Mr. Long?

I'll take a piece of this on the Boymoose side. The mole tape of Romney/Hannity has imbued me with a strange new confidence. Inexplicable and shallow, I know, but there it is.

Of course you know, Boymoose, he won't bite. Rob is only a pessimist because he doesn't want to jinx Romney's chances with overconfidence. Always thinking, that man.

I agree  Ltd.  I was going to give Obama $3 for the chance to eat dinner with him, but I think Rob would be better company.

I'll take it. But in the interests of fairness, let's stipulate that it'll have to be someplace mutually convenient, and if other Ricochet members want to join this bet -- on either side -- we can just turn it into a party, losing side pays. What do you think?

I'll gladly bet that Romney will win...  I look forward to the party.  Rob- perhaps your new assistant should start planning it now!

Now that I give this thought it's not sounding as attractive. If we're wrong, we'll be footing the bill while sunk in deep depression, a double whammy. I'm likely to be curled in a fetal position for days with no appetite.

If Rob and company lose, they'll hardly notice their suffering wallets amidst the euphoria. Besides, prosperity will be just around the corner.

Nevertheless, I'm in. I foresee a generous bar bill either way.

Likewise. I tend to prefer to bet against my preferred outcome for just this reason, but in this instance I think we've got a better chance of winning than losing. I'm happy to travel for it, but if I can't make it to the meetup for whatever reason, I'll settle for a drink on the NRO cruise.

Have you ever been to Bubba's Burger Shack? It's a shanty town style shack beneath a freeway that has a wine list of one, by the glass only, self-served from the box. On Sundays this is expanded to two, although thanks to Bush 41, he's no longer allowed to call the second wine "Champagne" (the beers are classier). For my 30th birthday (sorta), a foodie friend and I made a weekend trip from the UK so I could take her to that (and a special menu at the 4 seasons). It was Bubba's that she went back raving about. Truly wonderful food.

I'm in.  I say Romney wins (as an entrepreneur, I almost have to be an optimist, no matter the odds).

Port Arthur and then Houston were the first places I felt that I lived in America (I was in Austin for a bit the year before, but I never really found it home). The best friend I had on the Coalition side in Iraq was from Houston. The Rothko chapel and Menlil gallery are two of the top five places I'm looking forward to taking my wife (a museums professional). If I get a choice about where I end up working, Houston's pretty likely to be the spot. Even if I don't swing that, you can be sure we'll swing on by sometime.

Hey James,

I can't believw a conservative didn't feel at home in Ausitn. ;-) Obviuosly you weren't prepared to "Keep Ausitn Weird".

If you know Houston then you know were Spring is.  Please let me know when you come thru, you and your wife are always welcome.

BTW Houston Museum of Natural History has a big expension being work on now.  Maybe something to put on your list of things to see.

Take care

The proper person to handle this request is Mr. Long's new assistant.

I'm in too. Romney wins. And I like bourbon, though I've developed a fondness for Irish Mist.

Is anyone going to Stand with Rob on this one?  I'm a betting man. But I can't bring my self to lay money on the table for the country going to hell in a hand basket for a generation.

I am going to put my money down on Romney, but I will help pay if we wins.

I'm in, too--on Rob's side.  I'm a pessimist as far as Romney is concerned.  If Romney loses--and I think he's got at least an even shot at that--I'll be so depressed that I'll need the company of Ricocheters.  If Romney wins, this will be the first bet I'll be more than happy to pay.

Side action on Gary Johnson? [ducks]

As a realist, I would join Rob in betting against Romney, but the prospect of 4 more years of hope and change is just too horrifying to overcome.
